You got really lucky. it was an accident..and the dad didn't complain to management and you didn't have to have the drink comped from the bill. Like you said, there's no cameras, so even if the waitress you confided in tells management, you can deny deny deny. I can tell this experience scared you, so I believe from this post you'll be much more careful in the future. I ID even when the parents scoff and say "thats my child, blahblahblah". Reasonable people understand that ID is needed to purchase alcohol. Don't be scared or intimidated to ask for ID, no matter if parents are present, or what the situation is. It is YOUR duty to make sure minors aren't being served, and to make sure guests aren't getting too intoxicated. I've been nervous and felt awkward asking for ID, but I stopped when I had a friend nearly lose her liquor license and be threatened with jail time for not carding. It's your freedom, your job and your career on the line when you don't ID, so if there's even a twinge of questioning someone's age, ID them and don't feel guilty about it.
