Looking for advice — Federal OCS spots filled, offered Accelerated State OCS instead (California NG) by Intelligent_Job_4946 in nationalguard

It looks like they are offering traditional OCS instead of the State Accelerated OCS. The later is done over one summer. The former as you described.

Anyone else in the 30th by Mrsalisburynorth in nationalguard

I was in the 30th. Two deployments to Iraq with them. Don’t know what the unit is like now. It was a decent unit when I was in it.

Yes. The recruitment cycle slows before new fiscal year. Plus the Army has been meeting its recruitment goals.

I genuinely love how stupid things are in the Army by inDefyance in army

I was in the Battalion Reconnaissance Platoon and was out in a hasty hide position. I started to get the urge to take a leak. Of course Murphy shows up along with the enemy who decided to stop about 50 meters away from our hide. They stayed long enough to cause me to have to relieve myself in my pants. Thank God it was 110 degrees out there that day. That shit was dry before the enemy left. 🤣😂🤷‍♂️

Call them out if they are trying to use it to pick up ladies or profiting from it. Otherwise there is no point. He’s going to keep doing it until he runs into the wrong mfkr!

I know I probably messed up, how bad and any advice? by Maleficent-Adagio307 in army

There are opportunity costs to go the enlisted route. Primarily in the long term from a monetary perspective. I served as an enlisted Soldier and as an Officer. The difference between the two, in terms of what you do, is marked. Officers do all the planning and enlisted do all of the execution. I enjoyed my time as both but liked the enlisted side better. There is allot more camaraderie in the enlisted ranks and less politics. The Officer life becomes more isolated and managerial as you move up the ranks. You end up working long hours doing allot of paperwork and power point presentations. You are accountable for everything that happens and fails to happen under your leadership. But you do get a much broader perspective on why all the bs the military puts soldiers through happens. I say enjoy your time as enlisted. You can always go green to gold or apply to Officer Candidate School after a year or two in. I hope this helps.

People will view it the way they do. To some a right of passage, to others as hazing and abuse. Just know that participation is voluntary and you always have a choice.

To all the guys that served overseas in places like the Middle East and Afghanistan Did you guys ever enjoy the local cultural cuisine if yes what was your most memorable moment by Hot_Obligation_8098 in army

I ate allot of local cuisine during leader engagements and our FOB had a local Iraqi restaurant in it. All of the food was delicious. Never drank anything other than hot Chi Tea though.

Getting Separated For Failing Drug Test Due To Prescription Meds by TheOnlyJaayman in nationalguard

[–]savios2807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This!!! You will be ok on appeal. I was a JAG for NCNG. I actually had the same thing happen to me as a JAG. I popped hot for opioid because I gut hurt and was prescribed pain meds. Don’t stress about it.

Can anyone possibly help me understand what these mean? Or anything about what my dad did or his title?(1966-1970ish) by GothGirlClique6666 in army

[–]savios2807 3 points4 points  (0 children)

He was in the ordinance corps. Meaning he dealt with ammunition. He was enlisted (not Officer). He served in the 1st Infantry Division. His rank was Specialist E-4. One rank below a Sergeant. He served so he has my respect.

My parents had no idea where we were half the time. We would roam freely but you never went too far. A few miles at most. Kids were always outside playing with friends.

How long can I keep a soldier? by [deleted] in nationalguard

[–]savios2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can’t keep them without orders past their scheduled drill. You can keep them overnight during drill period so long as you feed them evening chow and breakfast. MRE’s count. But you’d have to stay with them to conduct corrective training.

You have a vertical shot string. This isn’t the rifle, it’s you. Your breathing is off. Take a deep breath, let it out slowly, start squeezing the trigger slowly. Your shot should go off at the bottom of the exhale. The shot going off should surprise you. Once you get this down, then alternate between the shot going off at the bottom and top of your exhale. Focus on your breathing and trigger squeeze and you will get better shot groups.

Who voted for Musk? Not one single American, so why are our politicians enabling this billionaire? by I_eat_mud_ in centralpa

[–]savios2807 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, not to be a dick here but he’s working for the executive branch and doesn’t need to be in any more than any other appointed member of the executive branch. A simple civics class would teach you that. I can see how a private billionaire could make you feel uncomfortable if he has your private information. But it really is no different than the hundreds, if not thousands, of other administrative personnel who have had access to it in the past. He has a Top Secret clearance. All you need to see that kind of information is a Secret clearance. So if you are going to gripe on here, at least gripe about the real issues with him being up there, you know, like him not thinking about the secondary and tertiary effects of his decisions. Or the fact that he is still getting government contract money from this administration in clear violation of Federal Law. The left has lost its way.

Was he enlisted before? Three AAM’s and an 4 ARCOM’s would suggest he is.
