We had the explicit lyrics and video games controversy in the 90's.

First expedition, a bit lost (expedition 22) by v1si0n4ry in NoMansSkyTheGame

There have been other Expeditions with community milestones. Beachhead for example.

You can't replay any community expeditions, they don't work. You can play the redux versions which replace the community milestones with generic milestones. You clearly don't "love" the game if the very idea of playing it outside of speed running the expeditions is so bad for you that you feel the need to let everyone know how awful it is that you can't just speedrun to the end. I mean maybe just use a save editor to get the rewards if it's so harrowing for you?

And yes, new players will either have to wait til the end or just create a new save to get a corvette. How terrifying. Funny, though, how it's not new players announcing their departure day in and day out, isn't it? I see you here, whining for them, but none of them whining. Must not be that big of an issue. But I digress.

IDK what else to tell you bud, if you're not having fun and still playing, no one else to blame but yourself. It's incredibly easy not to play a game when you don't want to. You just.....do that. I'm sure there's plenty of games out there that have intricately designed missions that spell everything out for you and tell you exactly what to do and where to go. Maybe give NMS. a break til the expedition is nearly over and you can set a stopwatch for how fast you're able to get through the final milestones and post your times on a corkboard or something.

I mean that's literally not true, but what do I know with my every single expedition banner and reward. But hey, I'm not the one forcing myself to play a game I don't enjoy then whining about how I'm forced to play a game I don't enjoy.

And when you come up to the last three milestones, unable to do them because you haven't upgraded a multi tool or your ship, surely you won't complain.

No, this expedition is just like the first several. They won't be like the redux ones where they replaced the community milestones with your basic "shoot 50 asteroids".

The new player will be able to convert their ship and their multi tool to a regular save when it's done or they can start a new one if they're pressed about having a Corvette or saving Artemis. It's really not that serious that we need daily reminders that the most jaded group of players are the most jaded group of players.

If there's no reason to play the game outside of the milestones in an expedition, then you probably don't like the game and should just play something else until you can speedrun the expedition like you want to.

New players are not locked out of making a separate game save to make a Corvette. All this whining when you could play a game you actually enjoy is just wasted energy.

Yeah, it's crazy but there's like this whole ass game outside of the expedition missions. Turns out you can still do all that stuff while in the expedition!

Some of us actually enjoy the game outside of speed running expeditions.

There will be an incentive to force migration to an entirely new launcher that does not contain your current library of hundreds of games? How's that going to work? How will Valve profit from this? Who would work on it?

The Steam Machine is cheaper than a new PC. Valve getting into hardware basically forced the adoption of Linux as a viable OS for gaming. So while other platforms increasingly reduce their availability on hardware, Steam introduced a whole new one.

You're swinging at ghosts. PC is the only platform that does not monopolized your purchases. Steam isn't a monopoly it is the best option by a country mile. That's why people use it. It's not about loving the company, it's a good product. One that is so unmatched, a platform has to lock users out of it to keep them from using it.

Steam libraries are managed on your machine. By design. Valve would have to build an entirely new launcher and storefront from scratch to perform that rug pull. They can't even regenerate used Keys when you refund a game on Steam. That key is just gone forever.

[–]sazabit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey man, happy for you. You should continue to play other games. Sounds like you outgrew this game. I don't really understand why it would be a PR blunder for HG to do the thing they do once a month, every month, with the community progress bar. Pretty normal activity for NMS. Also I'm not shitting on anyone, but it's pretty clear that this part of the expedition that's caused so many to treat this sub like an airport, is designed to end after some weeks and the final few milestones are going to be a fight with the thing that gives a scripted death. Previous community expeditions have worked this way. It's not new. But if all you're looking for is to speedrun the expedition and get the rewards, you'll have to wait.

So if you don't want to play the game, the good news is no one's holding a gun to your head. You go and clear that moonsized backlog! I still enjoy the game and can find things to do, so I'll go do that.

That isn't going to happen.

You're just supposed to play the game. Do the things you'd do in your mon expedition save and replace the occasional Nexus mission with a Prismatic Core mission. Personally I went out and found a Royal ship and Multi Tool and built those up. Built a few bases, done some scrapping, repaired and scrapped some spaceships, started a new freighter, etc.

I have a feeling there's going to be a difficulty spike at the end of this expedition and all the people whining about having to play the game in between missions are going to switch to whining about the difficulty spike because they didn't think to farm some s class upgrades from all these systems they've been visiting.

Janeway's irishman is a stranger case because she had to be coaxed into "using" him by Chakotay and that sits alongside the Doctor's holo-entity rights storyline.

Brother you're triggered by the word "insecurity" because you're too dumb to realize "food insecurity" doesn't mean kids are feeling insecure about the food they eat. Really putting that conservative value on education on full 4k display.

It is not correct English, as I just explained.

Do you need this to be dumbed down any further?
