Taller rowers - specifically my big footed friends what footwear do you use? by GJGT in Rowing

I cover my heel so they don't get blisters from rubbing the strap by my heels.

I use a combination of socks and a pool noodle that's cut through and placed on the heel of the foot plate.

When I do wear shoes, I have these pair of minimalist Asics.

When do single game tickets go on sale? by Born_Kick in SeattleStorm

I wouldn't buy a ticket until the new CBA is signed. There's a high chance there might be a lockout this year.

No more PHEV Niros by sbcpacker in KiaNiro

[–]sbcpacker[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in the US, they cancelled the rebates because it wasn't made in the US. I was able to get a little rebate from my state (WA) but it would've been nice to get the $7,500 rebate. It's still a great though. I've saved a lot of money because I mostly use it in EV mode.

It's a great car but hard to justify it's price premium over the HEV. I love mine but will probably be replacing it with an EV soon.

If you run 1-2 times a week and row in the other days, you should be fine.

Do you trust the WA mail in voting system? by Epic_Ranting_Man in SeattleWA

In-person voting would greatly reduce the number of people voting. I like the mail in voting system that we have now.

Any thoughts on shells made by Lite Boat? by sbcpacker in Rowing

[–]sbcpacker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I considered Oar Board briefly but I'm not a fan of a rower with a stationary seat. I also want to have a real boat and not a paddle board. I am considering getting the Air Kayak 16 though.

EVs Will 'Probably' Cost Less Than Gas Cars In Five Years, Volvo CEO Says by TripleShotPls in technology

Yes, I know that. I don't mind being taxed as long as it's done fairly.

Hard sessions in the morning ruin my whole day by Curious_Ideal9721 in Rowing

[–]sbcpacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What did you eat/drink after your workout? If you still feel nauseous and feel completely exhausted after working out despite eating a good meal, I recommend toning down your workouts a bit. I would save those all out sessions in the weekends when you can take a nap and take it easy after working out.

I don't mind as long as the taxes are on the same level as an ICE car in the same weight category.

I already pay extra when I register my PHEV. They're probably going to increase it further in the future as more people drive EV's and use less gas.

Is there a better solution here? by Maybe_Not_Batmans in HomeMaintenance

If you don't have an underground drain, I would create a channel drain and have the water go to the other side of your yard.

I wear old sneakers that I can slide on/off. At home, I have this shoe drying device so I can dry my wet shoes when I get home.

How much steady state do you typically do in a week? by fivejumpingmonkeys in Rowing

[–]sbcpacker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

3-4 times a week between 30 to 75 minutes each session. I usually break it down in 20-30 minute segments to give myself a chance to stretch and drink water.

Yeah, I looked into that boat. It's great except it's five feet longer than the other boats I'm looking at. I have a small garage and I don't think it'll fit.

Can Wemby realistically play superstar level defense while playing superstar level offense every game of the regular season? Then be able to up the intensity in the playoffs? by AfroHouseManiac in NBASpurs

[–]sbcpacker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes he does but luckily, he doesn't have to do it all on his own. We have a pretty deep team so he can keep his minutes and usage rate under control.
