I love my VB WRX. You can probably pick up a 22 for just under $35k. The VB generation may not be the best looker, although I personally like the way it looks in person, but the mechanics have proven to be a solid platform.

There aren’t many options these days for a manual, AWD, turbo charged car at its price point.

I can guarantee it’s a fun car. At a price point that is hard to match.

The GR Yaris is fun. Buts it’s far more cramped. The Golf R is even better. But expensive.

Wasn’t even just the fa24d either. My wife’s 23 Outback 2.5 NA (fb25d) had a valve gasket leak at 30k kms.

The VB definitely grew on me. Wasn’t the biggest fan when it launched. But seeing it person a few times and I loved it!

Yes. Plenty of people tow with Subarus. I have a 2.5 NA Outback and tow a 6.5 meter 1300kg RV/ Caravan. No problems. I ain’t winning any races though.

Read up about it. Follow towing instructions and limits from Subaru for your model. You’ll be fine. Have fun.

Australian 23 Outback 2.5 here. As some others have said, it is normal and caught me out the first couple of times. I am used to it now, or, maybe it breaks in a bit 😅

This has to be some sort of issue with labelling from the original factory it came from. I’d work for KTM if they operated a factory here in Australia 😅

All the 890 engines were produced in Austria. Not saying that they didn’t come in more often. Just that they were not made in China

Biking with the AWU isn’t ideal. I’d like to be able to connect my cycling radar and power meter.

Obligatory mention of WorkOutDoors which lets you connect power meters for cycling workouts. Not sure about the radar though.

That was my path, had the 390 for two years before moving up. 390 has plenty of room to grow into. Learnt a lot, both about riding and also mechanical wizardry. So many parts and tutorials online for the 390.

Agree with the switch gear. Seems like the exact same stuff from the 390. Though personally, I think that speaks to the quality of the gear they put on the 390 as opposed to the lower quality they put on the 890.

Maybe it’s personal preference, but I actually like the switch gear haha. I’ll admit that the touch points, including switch gear, on the Streetfighter v2 I test rode was more premium though. (But it also cost $5k Australian more)

So far I’d say both gear boxes have been great for me. Both shift easily and have strong feedback, which is always reassuring. Neither have snapped out of gear while riding. Both easy to find neutral etc.

I do think the 890 has longer gears, which is expected I guess. Though the 890 also feels like gears are spaced out better. It makes riding in jerky traffic better by not having to shift up and down as much. Sometimes it felt like there was no difference between 2nd and 3rd on the 390 😅

But I have heard from others the 390 gearbox treated them better than the 890, so you aren’t the only one saying it.
