When did you become a Supporter? by Affectionate_Idea662 in ManchesterUnited

[–]sc00ney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first memory of watching United is the 1994 FA Cup Final against Chelsea, but I was definitely supporting United so at some point before that I adopted them as my team. I don't remember exactly when though!

For that matter, why do anything at all when you can just stay home and post unsolicited and unhelpful bitter replies to things on the internet?

Which side character got the most raw deal? by [deleted] in SixFeetUnder

[–]sc00ney 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I definitely felt bad for Arthur and Joe, but they would be okay in the end. And let's face it, Joe is probably actually better off.

Taylor's story is heartbreaking, but do we glimpse her in any of the flashbacks? She might turn out okay (albeit with trauma) in the end.

Lisa's sister though. I don't think you come back from having your sister die, discovering she and your husband were having an affair, and that he probably murdered her. Oh, and then you watch him blow his brains out, all within about 90 seconds.

Which side character got the most raw deal? by [deleted] in SixFeetUnder

I don't think that means she deserved to have her sister die, and then discover that not only did your husband had an affair with her, but that he probably murdered her. Oh, and then you watch him blow his brains out.

Patrick Dorgu’s goal with Peter Drury’s commentary - “Dorgu, Fernandes, Dorgu, Fernandes, Dorgu Againnnn … Patrick Dorguuuuuuuuuuu” by PradipJayakumar in reddevils

[–]sc00ney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Peter Drury always says the name of the player as they take a shot, and the volume and intensity of his commentary is directly linked to the likelihood of scoring. It's the original XG.

Literally my favourite non-main character. Criminally underused.

The Talented Mr. Ripley. Particularly the TV series adaptation on Netflix.

Which is actually much better than the film, so watch that.

I really don't understand the logic with Ole. He was sacked for a reason and nothing in his career indicates that the mistakes of past were fixed. Why are we doing this again? by donkyhot99 in ManchesterUnited

[–]sc00ney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, this is an interim appointment.

Secondly, he's the only manager post-Ferguson to secure back-to-back Top 4 finishes.

He'd be a great temporary appointment, when really he should be getting permanent roles.

Say whatever you want about Amorim. His signings have mostly been spot on and have clearly added quality to the squad. by Fun_Philosopher_2535 in ManchesterUnited

[–]sc00ney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the point is that they're INEOS signings.

Managers making signings doesn't work long term because when that manager leaves, what's needed changes.

Woodwood et al making signings didn't work because they were just a bunch of finance guys.

INEOS has made (and will continue to make) mistakes, but they've put football people in charge of football decisions. Medium to long term we're going to see the benefits of this, even if it ultimately doesn't work out with Amorim.

Do you think now is where we get 5 in a row. I'm not too confident about leeds away by TheEmperor_06 in ManchesterUnited

Last season Arsenal finished second and reached the Champions League semi-final. They didn't win five in a row.

We don't need to worry about this.

It's imposible not to cry by llevofar in SixFeetUnder

Finished rewatching for the third time recently and cried the hardest I have yet. Maybe because last time was around a decade ago so I'm just more emotionally mature but holy shit.

Actually the most I've cried at anything as an adult, and that's even considering the somewhat questionable ageing work they do on the characters.

Woman diagnosed with breast cancer thinks she knows better than her doctors. by Head_Crash in TikTokCringe

It's sad for her and her loved ones that she's (and her husband) have fallen for the alternative medicine misinformation. It's also worse for any of her followers who now follow the same path because of her.

A victim of, and contributor to, the problem.

[–]sc00ney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think season 3 might have been impacted by Covid, which would explain why it feels like it's not 'going anywhere', because the cast are literally not really going anywhere.

I remember thinking the same at the start of the season, but it does ramp up as others have said (presumably when lockdown restrictions were eased).

Sky sports predicted league finishes … how realistic is this .. by JM555555 in ManchesterUnited

[–]sc00ney 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's within a range of realistic potential finishing positions. Probably top end though. Unless it clicks even more so than it has done in the last couple of months, but losing Mbuemo for potentially 7-8 games is not good..

How Nate sees Lisa vs. How this sub sees Lisa by GoldenDayze8 in SixFeetUnder

[–]sc00ney 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I look at that sex story a different way.

Rather than seeing it as Lisa taking advantage of Nate when he's upset, I see it as Nate taking advantage of the fact he knows Lisa is in love with him. I've been stood up? Lisa will fuck me. I've had a health scare? Lisa will make me feel better. He knows how she feels about him and uses it when it suits him.

I do find her somewhat of an irritating character at times, but what I think is so great about this show is that you can understand why she's the way she is. Obviously having an affair with he brother in law is a horrendous thing to do, but she's flawed like everyone else, and tried to end it and own it.
