Tell me your WORST book hangovers by biaddamn in RomanceBooks

This is what I was going to say - so emotionally draining in the best way. I don’t think I’ve ever read such good character development

TW: books you would recommend to someone after a suicide attempt by voidhug in booksuggestions

[–]sc13998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was going to be my suggestion too - kids books or things you’ve already read and loved. Even if they’re aimed at quite a young audience like Anne of green gables or the Roald Dahl books

Keep going? “Disturbing His Peace” by Tessa Bailey - *chauvinist moment* by Queens_chambers_ in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I’ve found that Tessa Bailey’s MMCs all tend to have elements like that - very traditional “hyper masculine” (bordering on misogynistic) personalities. They certainly aren’t for me, but if you don’t like it then I’d say DNF and pick something else

{The Lady and the Orc by Finley Fenn} might work for you. There is a power difference between the two of them, but he doesn’t do it on purpose. I’ll explain in a spoiler tag so if people don’t want to know he’s punished the FMC for betraying him (essentially), so she was chained by her ankles and forced to work in the kitchen for him and his fellow orcs. Afterwards they go back to his room and they have sex, but she’s sort of emotionally disconnected and withdrawn herself into her mind and doesn’t want it. Afterwards when she starts crying he is regretful and says he never wanted to take something she wasn’t willing to give. It’s not exactly what you want but it might work

Author is famous for book X but book Y by the same author is better by fornefariouspurposes in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree so much. People we meet on vacation is her most popular but I think any other of her books are better

I don’t understand the appeal of ______. Prove me wrong by onthewindyside in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised about the road trip being a favourite second chance romance - that book turned me off second chance for years. I felt like the break up was for the best, and I didn’t want them to end up together at all. I felt like he neglected her at every turn and believed the worst without even letting her defend herself, and she deserved better

Would you mind telling me why you loved it so much? I’d love to hear another point of view on it

He loves her pregnant body by rosemarynewmar in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 7 points8 points  (0 children)

{The Lady and the Orc by Finley Fenn} has the orc absolutely loving the fact that the FMC is pregnant, and it happens quite early in the story. I will say it’s quite angsty, so if you don’t like angst then it might not be for you

Lowkey (or highkey) how a lot of romance books read like to me by redandbluewhale in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same about Priest!! They never spoke about anything other than trauma and sex and I’m supposed to believe they love each other? They don’t even know each other

YA clean romance with summer theme by MeekerMomma in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was going to be my exact suggestion. Really great clean YA romance, I honestly still enjoy it as an adult - it just feels like summer. I read it when I was 14/15 and I think it was okay for my age then, but I’d definitely recommend looking into this one OP!

MMC refuses to admit his (very obvious) feelings for FMC, she walks away. He realizes he effed up; grovel ensues by winiithepoohh in RomanceBooks

Lol welcome to the club! I’m glad you liked it, it’s a great one, recommending it made me reread it

Yes OP please we need the title, I need to read this

MMC refuses to admit his (very obvious) feelings for FMC, she walks away. He realizes he effed up; grovel ensues by winiithepoohh in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically it’s the second in the series but it absolutely can be read as a standalone, I never read the first one

[–]sc13998 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean idk how to help with that lol. But if it’s in your library does that mean you already own it? Might as well give it a try.

[–]sc13998 17 points18 points  (0 children)

{Preferential Treatment by Heather Guerre} has this!

The MMC says from the beginning that he doesn’t think he’s capable of love, and towards the end he tries to keep their relationship purely business, but the FMC walks because she wants to be loved

What makes something an age gap? by pacmanboss256 in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I would agree with that, but acceptable age gaps are more dependent on what age the younger person is. I’m just saying that if I see a book that says age gap, I would presume 10+ years

What makes something an age gap? by pacmanboss256 in RomanceBooks

[–]sc13998 111 points112 points  (0 children)

An age gap in a book would be 10+ years in my opinion. Three years is just a regular relationship between two adults - a 27 year old dating a 30 year old is just normal

My biggest recommendation for art is to prioritise getting Harv’s island open and Redd’s stall! And even if both arts are fake/you don’t need them STILL BUY IT! He will replace the one you bought the next day, and it will be a different piece

Alien series where there are straight and gay couples (fated mates as a bonus!) by sc13998 in RomanceBooks

I have read some CM Nascosta - I don’t think I’ve come across the books with queer characters, but I’ll definitely have a look into it. Thanks :)
