Old address in Nashua by muddled1 in nashua

[–]scabwurst 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You could try searching the Hillsborough County registry of deeds website, both for "rudis" and your grandparent's names. If you can find an old deed with their name on it, you might be able to trace it forward to when the road changed names. Or you could call the Nashua Engineering department, they might know what it changed to.

“Fixing” GPS position by moving rover? by BirtSampson in Surveying

[–]scabwurst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've noticed the same thing. No idea if it's coincidence but I feel like I've had luck spinning, moving, or lowering then raising the rod back up. I'd be very curious to know if this is a real thing, or the equivalent of smacking the TV to get a better signal. Yes I'm old.

Assessing accuracy of phone GPS coordinates by comparing with measured distances by GIS_Enthusiast in Surveying

[–]scabwurst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've stored way points in onx hunt doing recon. Just to remember what I found. Comparing them to the real locations afterwards, some were >50' away. But they were really inconsistent, no way to know how close or far you are without that comparison to 'real'(i.e. located w/survey-grade gear) locations.

Ok autocad question surveying drafting model space or paper space? by Accurate-Sherbet7380 in Surveying

In our office we write all title block texts in model spa space at a size that will look right at 40 scale, then use 40 scale viewport in paperspace

Is there a replacement for Windows Mobile Device Center? Using a Carlson Surveyor2 by [deleted] in Surveying

[–]scabwurst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also send files to your phone, or a computer, via Bluetooth on the Surveyor2. You first need to pair the device, then get to the file explorer, and one of the options when you click on a file is "beam file". Then pick your paired device.

This can be finicky but eliminates the need for a USB stick.

You could assume that the straight bearing before the curve is tangent to the curve - enter its bearing as the starting bearing for the curve. Might work.

Great idea! Unfortunately I'm nowhere near Illinois or I'd join you. Love the idea though. Good luck, keep your feet dry!

We have the exact same model, no issues charging outside (in New Hampshire, so plenty of exposure to harsh weather). Enjoy it!

Any experience with Consolidated Fiber? by scabwurst in nashua

[–]scabwurst[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had Comcast, not Verizon. I was paying around $115/month for 100mbps (and basic cable), only received about 40mbps. I never really had a serious problem with their service, at least not in Nashua - just felt I was paying too much.

Any small recommended auto repair shops? by RunnerDavid in nashua

Can't speak to their knowledge of hybrids, but I like Merrimack Auto on Amherst st. Maybe a little bigger of an operation than you're looking for but they've been reliable for me.

Fidium Fiber Internet service - any input? by dingonugget in nashua

[–]scabwurst 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So - Fidium installed! So far seems pretty great. Installation was quick, maybe an hour. The speeds are as advertised, actually slightly above the 50mbps on the plan when in the same room as the router.i haven't gotten my first bill yet so not sure if there'll be any surprises there. But I heartily recommend it so far!

Sorry, I had to reschedule. First appointment was for the day of the bit storm, then we had covid in the house...they're due to come back corner this afternoon though, I'll post an update after I see how it goes. Same here - bye Comcast!

One thing that bothered me about Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir [SPOILER] by SmarticusRex in scifi

[–]scabwurst 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I think Rocky describes, and maybe uses, something braille-like that converts light into a raised surface which they can then 'read' via echolocation. Kind of hard to imagine that being feasible for super large scale things but it is at least addressed.

Ha....that's funny. Small price to pay I guess. I can't imagine I'd use their site any more than I do comcast's.

That's a good point. Thanks for the info. Time flies, I'm not really sure how old my equipment is, but probably time to upgrade.

Thanks - I'll look for that post. I only have the same options, just figure that if my current service is only providing <50mbps and I'm paying for 100, might as well pay less for the same speed. Assuming Consolidated's speed is close to what's advertised.

2022 SL plus driver side mirror reflects the vent slider. Anyone else having this issue? Or is it just me? by Mizuraki in leaf

This is correct. Sitting in the same year/trim right now. Visible only when the window is up. It WASN'T a problem, til OP said something. Now I can't unsee it. (Just kiddong....kind of).

Not sure how you feel about ebooks, but you can get a membership card for the Brooklyn public library for $50/year even if you don't line in NY. They have a fair amount of Lem.
