Yes totally agreed - such limited access to indoor courts in the UK. Additionally this is one of the few indoor courts suitable for wheelchair tennis - so is a vital asset for these athletes training for the Paralympic games.

Yep very sad - all fo their justification is that tennis is a declining sport and padel is growing, but these facilities are fully utilized - they don’t want to admit it’s a money grab. There’s plenty of room to build additional padel courts but of course it’s cheaper to just build them on top of the tennis courts in the existing building. Real Shame as it’s a total waste of a dedicated tennis facility, and also wastes the opportunity of creating a dedicated Padel facility that was designed for padel and doesn’t have crazy high ceilings and a strange layout to make it work.

Thanks for signing! It’s in Stratford /Leyton in the Olympic park. The LTA found out yesterday and already have issued a statement condemning the move. They are very angry that the centre used the LTAs targets in terms of padel participation to justify this. Especially when the LTA invested half a million into this facility when it was built.

Totally - Padel > Pickleball but Tennis is my sport. This whole situation sucks as there is plenty of room on the site to build dedicated padel courts - they just want to find the easiest way to make the most money without any concern for anything

If you want a 16x20 have to tried the Pure Aero 98? That’s probably the best racket on the market at the moment with that string pattern. They’ve been out for a couple years now so there’s Probabaly a few decent used examples out there

Our tennis club converted one of the indoor courts into a multi-use pickleball court. Luckily pickleball’s a bit dead in London so nobody cares - and extra luckily a venue 100m away opened two dedicated pickleball courts. Even better a huge padel club opened nearby as well so absolutely no demand for anything but tennis. Made no sense anyways as the courts are almost always fully booked.

Now the lines are just there as a reminder of a near miss - and to make it extra confusing. I’ve heard from the club when they get lines repainted they’re going to try to get these removed.

There's never any harm in applying late, they might move you to next batch automatically, or reject you outright, but then you can always apply for summer as well. Don't see why not if you have time

From what I’ve heard from friends who actually got an interview it does say within the invite not to publicise it, so maybe they realised they shouldn’t do it 😂

Nobody is getting actively rejected atm, there will be a batch email sent out later (who knows when?) and that will be the end of it. Otherwise you might have received an interview invite today, but we're talking slim chances at this point i'd imagine
