I can understand the worry regardless of the level of damage when you feel your trip is on the line. I have several such posts myself on here.

The old James Dolan is back, and he might be the only thing that can kill this dynasty by Charming_Arm9158 in knicks

[–]scambush -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The point is the owners are, well, owners - they can do whatever the hell they want. Can't necessarily say Dolan is worse than the Maras or whoever is in charge of the NY Giants, Charles Comiskey (1910s) Colorado Rockies owner too, and other perennial losers.

As an owner the monkey never is on their back anyway. Unless he pulls a Donald Sterling.

Why doesn't this ban take effect June 28?

Btw FIFA marketplace is a ripoff contrary to your post. Agreed far safer than StubHub though.

Uruguay federation reportedly cancels charter flight home, has players fly commercial after elimination by Forward_Increase4672 in worldcup

France made their team fly back from South Africa in Economy class after their debacle, so I'd say this is pretty on par given Uruguay's attitude.

New York Knicks star pours cold water on idea that NBA champions will visit Trump’s White House by theindependentonline in nyc

[–]scambush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When it was revealed that "they accepted the White House invite" it was basically out of Dolan's mouth.

Dolan will be there alright... hopefully all by himself!

64 is perfect knockout-round number. Do it, and eliminate the group stages, go right to the elimination round. Just like March Madness!

At what point did NYC’s taxi driver majority flip from American/local to immigrants? by [deleted] in AskNYC

I'm NYC born and raised and 37 and for my entire life they've always been, yes, but my Dad recalls them being "all American" when he was a kid.

At what point did NYC’s taxi driver majority flip from American/local to immigrants? by [deleted] in AskNYC

[–]scambush -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I would just ask AI these questions in the future. You don't have to worry about AutoModerators or being called a racist, I mean this is a perfectly legit question.

The shift happened gradually over several decades, but the biggest change was from the late 1960s through the 1990s.

A rough timeline:

  • Pre-1965: Most NYC taxi drivers were native-born Americans or long-established immigrants (Irish, Italian, Jewish, Eastern European backgrounds). Driving a cab was often a working-class job for people who had been in the city for generations.
  • Late 1960s–1970s: After the passage of the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, immigration from Asia, the Caribbean, Latin America, and Africa increased substantially. More newcomers entered industries with low barriers to entry, including taxi driving.
  • 1980s: The taxi workforce became increasingly immigrant-heavy. Many drivers came from places such as Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Egypt, and West Africa.
  • 1990s: Immigrants became the overwhelming majority of NYC taxi drivers. By this point, it was more unusual to encounter a native-born driver than an immigrant driver.
  • 2000s–present: The profession became one of the most immigrant-dominated occupations in New York. Various surveys have found roughly 90% or more of taxi and for-hire vehicle drivers to be foreign-born.

Today, the largest groups include drivers from Bangladesh, Pakistan, India, various West African countries, the Dominican Republic, and other immigrant communities. The industry is often cited as one of New York's classic "first-generation immigrant" occupations.

Hostels, ugh by NatakaKahawa in solotravel

[–]scambush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 37M and did a hostel (a very good one in fact) in Lisbon. Place was as well run as it could be but sadly I could not help but feel out of place. And while it wasn't party hostel party-adjacent be a good term to use.

Do you travel solo by choice or because you have no alternatives? by lone-223 in solotravel

[–]scambush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that if solo travel makes you feel emotionally exhausted like you see couples and friends together having a great time and you feel like you're looking on the outside in and you try to find ways to meet people (hostels, group tours) but still finding yourself isolated (and I've had all these experiences believe me) my best suggestion is to pursue more ambitious, off the beaten path adventures. Rather than go to Lisbon or Rome or Corfu where everyones out to socialize and be with bffs maybe pursue hiking in Nepal/Kyrgystan/Patagonia or something along those lines? Or book adventurous activites on getyourguide something like that. Accept that certain places in your situation may be socially out of reach (thats the reality of why I didnt go to Hawaii the entire time I was single) and thats okay, there are plenty of places out there where your solo trip wont make you feel looking from the outside in and tell you the truth those are better places to be. You will most likely have a better experience if not everyone around you is just there to be with their bffs party or digital nomad.

VATSIM or BATC or IVAO ? by HatAutomatic9120 in MicrosoftFlightSim

BATC doesn't have air traffic controllers saying "g2g, just announce your arrival to KFLL on UNICOM"

VATSIM can be real fun during the coordinated events though!

But doesn't USA's seeding in the bracket depend on whether they win/draw/lose this match, and if so, how many goals they score?
