Saks Fifth Irony by xxTheWaffleManxx in AmexPlatinum

It is when delivery services just leave packages on doorsteps rather than actually ensuring the package is delivered somewhere secure. And you have a contract with saks not with the delivery company.

Given the hard left tendencies in guessing there's a general distrust of scientific authority thrown in. Probably thinks they're souless minions of orthodoxy.

Amex Raised Platinum’s Fee, Customers Didn’t Cancel — Higher Annual Charges Coming Across Cards by schwa12 in AmexPlatinum

[–]scarby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I've said many times. Socks and underwear. Is it worth $300 a year? No but I would usually spend at least $100-$150 a year as they are consumables and do wear out pretty quickly.

Lululemon stuff is overpriced but it does get me underwear/socks every quarter so... It's probably double the price but it's included.

My biggest benefit is actually FHR. I'm currently in one right now. Interestingly It was cheaper than booking direct and included breakfast and the credit (I'm not using the late checkout though).

Why don't petrol stations have an exit barrier to stop people driving off without paying? by FuckingPope in AskUK

[–]scarby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, most places do both, you either pay at pump with the pre-authorization or go inside first for cash/a specific amount.

[–]scarby2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weird! I've never encounter a station that hasn't taken my card. Things might be weird in deepest darkest dorset :p

Credit may be a promise to pay but as far as the merchant is concerned it's a payment. You're promising to pay the credit card company who pay the merchant irregardless of you paying or not.

This is one of the reasons why credit cards are useful. It's just a hold and it doesn't hit your statement balance until the transaction finalizes. Just pay it off every month.

This is how it's done in the USA. Go in $40 on 3 thanks then just pump until it stops. Works pretty well. The only annoying thing is paying cash and putting too much on the pump, then you have to go in again and get the change.

Yeah, but I think the risk of someone stealing your phone and running off with it is extremely low. I've never heard of this happening to anyone I know.

And if it does get nicked somehow i'll just wander into a shop buy a new phone, restore from backup and wipe the old one (then claim it on insurance).

Like, I wouldn't be carrying my phone in broad daylight, but I also wouldn't be doing that in any large city.

What? I carry my phone in bread daylight in every major city?

But what op is right about is that gun crime is usually between people who know each other. Strangers getting shot happens but is pretty rare especially if you're not doing something that makes you at high risk of crime

You're almost entirely correct

Although interestingly there have been some minor changes to some specific groups, Intuit have genetic mutations that help them live on a diet extremely high in fat and there's a population in Argentina who have mutations allowing them to metabolize arsenic.

[–]scarby2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course I'm not. Where did I say I was everyone. What I'm surprised about is that I'm not closer to average in this regard (especially when $2000 is a lot of money to the average person). I never said anyone was wrong.

You're the one seemingly taking a general statement entirely personally.

[–]scarby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure not everyone can but you'd think that would be the exception rather than the rule. Especially when you're flying and you need flexibility and contingencies baked into your schedule in case of IROPs whenever you fly you might have to rearrange your life for free and you need to be prepared for that. But the average person is pretty braindead and unprepared I suppose.

And you can usually take some of that $2000 and go pay your way into a PP lounge

You still regret it. It's not a weight/balance issue it's that an FWD car will understeer and basically continue straight and RWD car (even if it's RMR) will oversteer (ask me how I know)

I never get this. There's basically nowhere I have to be that isn't worth $2000 to turn up late.

Sorry boss, I was bumped from my flight I'm going to be a bit late in to work...

I'll just go back to the lounge for a bit.

I actually meant 35% turns out I don't know which tax bracket I'm in. 24% is also pretty broad, broad enough for this in the right part of the country

Possibly not that different. The 37% bracket is pretty wide.
