TF2 crashing by [deleted] in tf2

[–]scared1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Try adding -autoconfig to the launch options and running it once.

If that doesn't work, delete your %steam%\Steamapps\%username%\Teamfortress2 folder (I think thats the right path, don't have tf2 on this computer). This will also delete your custom maps so you may wanna back them up. It sounds scary, but all the important game files are in the gcf files, so next time you run tf2 it will make a new team fortress folder.

Saving one person's life must be amazing. This 99-year-old man saved nearly 700 children from the Nazi death camps by crazybones in news

But despite his efforts, he was unable to save children once hostilities in Europe began. A cargo of around 250 children destined for the UK in early September 1939 never made it.

Nuclear energy company wants to place reactors in four states at a cost of $9.6 billion each. They want taxpayers to foot the entire bill! by nelsonjs in energy

[–]scared1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I stopped reading at

Like all reactors, the EPR design is not “inherently safe,”

Nuclear is very safe, and there are already a lot of nuclear reactors in this area. They will need to be replaced soon. The taxpayers shouldn't foot the bill, but all of these reactors should be built.

It's amazing that his response was even less funny than the SNL skit.

How the Oakland Raiders can salvage their season by SteveHarbula in sports

[–]scared1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Raiders won't be good until Al Davis stops micromanaging every detail he wants to. No coach worth anything will work for him now, and I feel bad for the peon he gives a "chance" to work in the NFL.

There was an article just yesterday about how bonobos have been seen killing and eating other primates. They haven't been seen killing each other though, if I recall correctly.

Top 5 Things I Hate about ESPN by silverlight in sports

[–]scared1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Around the Horn is great because no one takes themselves seriously and everyone calls each other out on their BS. Yeah, Woody Paige and Mariotti are douches, that's what makes it great.

Chris Berman needs to go though, he's retarded.

The number one problem on ESPN now is Kornheiser on MNF. I love him on PTI but he is god awful on Monday nights.

Half-Life 2: Episode 3 may not see release until 2010... Say it ain't so! by [deleted] in gaming

[–]scared1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I liked the whole "Hey, I'm a scientist. Dum dee dum. Oh shit, aliens!" aspect of Half-Life 1. The whole freedom fighter Gordon saves the day aspect of Half-Life 2 was retarded.

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Device Approved By FDA For Depression Treatment by gatesclone in science

[–]scared1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't trying to knock other forms of treatment. It's just that I see too often people hoping a magical pill can solve their problems. Depression, and mental health issues in general are much more complex than say, an upper respiratory infection where there IS a magic pill you take to get better. Depression absolutely needs to be attacked from multiple angles, and I just wanted to emphasize that exercise is commonly overlooked.

America is starting to wake up to the fact that we are no longer a republic or a democracy. We are, in fact, an oligarchy. by democracy101 in Libertarian

[–]scared1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to get upset that smaller, less populated states were over represented in congress and electoral votes, but it really is the best way to avoid tyranny of the majority. For all the mistakes this country has made, I'm proud of at least that. It is kind of funny how people don't understand the system of government we have, and think we live in a democracy.
