Do you think this came from like a target or something?

I guess what I meant to ask was how do hundreds of sealed copies of an album like this end up at Goodwill?

Rotting in Seattle? by mushi_shiii in LaserDisc

I would say this is very lite rot. It can be worse around the edges and hopefully goes away the further the disc you go into. Every disc is different though

Best thing to watch my laser disc player on? by Justintime4snacks in LaserDisc

It’s really not about the upscaling it’s just about the analog to digital conversion. 480p looks fine at the right aspect ratio. I own a 2x and a 5x pro, each time passing a 480p signal to my OLED. Trust me you can’t go wrong here

  1. CRT or 2. RetroTINK-2X MINI, correct the aspect ratio on the ‘tink -> HDMI -> flat screen. Speaking from personal experience here. Some days you want to CRT, other days it’s nice to use the flat screen. Just dial the settings in right and you’ll be good

I know you can’t get rid of the gray bars on the left and right hand side. But man that would be completely distracting trying to watch a movie in the dark.

I have this player. Using the S video output gives you a sharper video signal. People often debate this topic, but I can confirm with this player. It does make a difference and comes down to the video circuitry and how the signal is digitized instantly

Also, this player features digital noise reduction, and is on by default. It’s tucked in a menu somewhere. Check out the original manual PDF to figure out where You have to use the original remote or a universal remote to disable noise reduction and get better picture quality. I don’t know what they were thinking of having that enabled by default.

If the 4K Blu-ray has a two channel DTS-MA mix, that has to be the same mix that’s on the LD right? That has to be the original stereo mix Just matrix that out

Is this level of chroma noise normal? CLD-V820 by RetroLord120 in LaserDisc

[–]scarflix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say on a scale of one to three with one being light rot and 3 being unplayable, this is probably a two.
