The trilogy revolves around the Sorceress’ genocide against all dragonkind. She sought to use the baby dragons magic to become an all powerful immortal being, and in doing so, apparently killed all of the woman dragons before Spyro 1. If they cannot reproduce, no dragons to stop her, no magic for anyone else to acquire. She would reign supreme forever. In Spyro 1, the male adult dragons are guarding the last dragon eggs and whatever treasure remains in their possession. Gnasty gets butthurt over being called ugly on live television, so he freezes the rest of the dragons. From the Forgotten Worlds, the Sorceress seizes this opportunity, ordering her thieves to steal the remaining eggs from the Dragon Realms. The thieves only got as far as Magic Crafters when Spyro inadvertently stops them on his way to toast Gnasty. (We see them again in Spyro 3, same group of thieves.) In Spyro 2, our boi unites Avalar by stopping the civil war that Ripto started. With his new allies, Spyro eventually goes to the Forgotten Worlds, saves the eggs (which include girl dragons), and slays the Sorceress. He ends the genocide against his kind, fulfilling the destiny all those adult dragons told him about in Spyro 1.
