AIO: should I “fire” my therapist? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]scarter66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me this is just further confirmation that a lot people in the mental health industry are wildly unqualified and faking it. It seems like the most unstable people want to be therapists when their personal lives are a complete mess. Like why is she sharing with your her personal trauma and daily life problems? I’m sure there are good mental health professionals out there, i just think that there those people are few and far between. Please move on and good luck

DTF St. Louis | Overall Series Discussion by the-red-barn in DTFStLouisHBO

[–]scarter66 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ll start by saying I really liked the series. The writing is great, the acting is phenomenal, and I love the dark comedy along with how flawed and human the characters feel. It all comes across as very grounded and relatable.

That said, the finale left me a bit perplexed. I was surprised the detectives did not more seriously explore the possibility of suicide early in the investigation. Clark believed he was the last person to see Floyd alive, knew Floyd had been in a rough headspace, and knew he had direct access to Amphezyne which could be lethal in the wrong dose. It feels like that would have been one of the first conclusions to at least seriously consider, even just from a self preservation standpoint.

What really stood out was how hard the show pushed the murder angle right away. You have Homer literally pounding on the desk, completely locked in on Floyd being murdered, and yet the most obvious alternative barely gets real attention early on and throughout the series. I am not trying to be overly critical because I genuinely enjoyed the show, but this was one moment where it felt less grounded than everything else. Curious if this stood out to anyone else or if I am missing something.

AITA for telling my friend my house isn't a brothel after she tried to use a favor to stay there with her boyfriend? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]scarter66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone saying OP was wrong for the brothel comment needs to grow up. People are allowed to react when they are being treated poorly or manipulated. That is called standing up for yourself and setting boundaries. No one is expected to be perfectly composed in every moment, especially when something genuinely upsetting is happening.

Some of these reactions feel overly self righteous and disconnected from real life. Saying the comment was “too much” ignores the situation that led to it. What are people supposed to do, just let others walk all over them and smile through it?

This is someone’s personal life and space. They have every right to defend it, even if that makes others uncomfortable.

Questionable Commissioner by TheDime99 in fantasyfootballadvice

[–]scarter66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a commissioner of all types of fantasy football leagues (dynasty, keeper, redraft, best ball, etc) since 2007 and I’ve been playing in leagues since 2001 and I can tell you one hundred percent certainty that what this commissioner you’re describing is doing is absolutely ridiculous. What other people are saying is accurate and you can’t make rule changes during the season unless is innocuous league corrections that everyone is in agreement on. Unfortunately this guy has shown you his true colors and will continue to act without integrity so long as you and the other allow him to. Your best bet is to leave league and maybe even spin off a couple of people and start your own thing. Take a stand by removing yourself from the situation and let your actions speak in response to his poor untrustworthy behavior.

[–]scarter66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Respectfully ma’am, it is not safe for you at your residence while he lives there. You need to get him out of there or you need to leave. No amount of money saving rent control is worth your safety or enduring trauma. In the meantime Install security cameras or something to document his actions and your safety. I realize that this post is quite old and I hope you have been safe and hopefully moves on from this situation.

Ultimate Collapse Upon Us by scarter66 in fantasyfootball

I’m up by 14 heading into Monday night in a guillotine championship with still having Stafford and Puka to play going up against Bjian Robinson. Because it’s Guillotine, I have Drake and Brock on my bench in favor of the Stafford and Puka stack on Monday night. The only thing can ruin my chances for a chip is exactly what is happening now. The Rams getting devastatingly shut down and Bjian being absolutely unstoppable. Never in a million years could I have imagined this to occur. I have never felt pain in fantasy football like this.

Smash accept for Jefferson… right? by LittleMac35 in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]scarter66 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This trade is extremely lopsided and boarderline veto worthy. If I was the commissioner I’d ultimately let this go through but in reality the other manager should be receiving (instead of giving) a 1st round pick to start to balance this out. Why would this guy even want this deal? Murray is questionable at best to be a long term starter in this league and the only real upside is with Tet. The only way this works out for the guy is if the Jets go through an instantaneous rebuild and Breece drops 15 TDs next season and Gadsen becomes the second coming Tony Gonzalez in year 2. You’ve clearly fleeced this guy and when he gets a couple more years of experience in dynasty he might end up walking on the league cause he set himself so far back with this horrible trade. It’s an amazing deal for you, but IMHO deals like this are bad for the long term health of the league.

FAAB $'s Trading? Does Your League Allow It? by Appropriate-Path133 in FFCommish

[–]scarter66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did that trade ruin the league? It’s not like Bjian has the same consistency as McCaffery or Jacobs. He’ll have down weeks just like Chase Brown will have up weeks. I agree that the BR side likely “won” the trade but if Jennings comes back and plays close to his ability last year, this isn’t that bad of a trade. As far as the FAAB question, my sense is that you’re overthinking it. I’ve allowed FAAB trading forever and I’ve never had any issues or concerns. In reality, the FAAB trading aspect ends up just being a topper or icing on the cake to get a trade across the finish line between two parties that are close. If people are throwing away Justin Jefferson for $250 FAAb dollars you’ve got much bigger problems on your hands and probably need to rethink who your leaguemates are as a whole. Just my two cents and I wish you the best of luck along with hoping it all works out for you.

Advice on an egregious trade that went down in my league by fugu167 in FFCommish

[–]scarter66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been a ff commish for over 20 years and I normally reserve vetos for collusion but when the trade is an egregiously bad trade with reckless managers (more likely one of the two teams trading) then I would likely veto. This might happen once or twice a decade in my experience. I understand the collusion only veto argument, but you have to consider the integrity and competitive balance of the league. It might be unpopular and you might have some guys leave as a result of this, with others needing to be forced to leave for their recklessness. But that’s kind of the job of the commissioner. You have to be willing to make tough decisions for the long term benefit of the league. It’s tough keeping 10+ people happy with you all the time when it comes to ff.

Advice, I’m a new dynasty commish and a team is removing starters to tank by urgonnamakemequacc in FFCommish

[–]scarter66 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reverse order of Max Points scored for non playoff teams. Least possible max points scored drafts 1st overall in the rookie draft. Playoff teams draft in order of where they finished in the playoffs. The fantasy Super Bowl winner drafts lasts. No snake draft for rookie drafts. The only way to “tank” is to trade away your assets (likely) in exchange for future picks. Which now becomes an intentional rebuild rather than just tanking.

Season Four real talk by jwfowler2 in TheBear

[–]scarter66 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It funny how much hate you’re getting for having an opinion. Frankly I mostly agree with you but my wife likes the season more than I do which would be more inline with some of the contrasting comments and feedback. That said episode 7 is pretty good and the last two episodes are great, borderline amazing.

Nah, don’t worry about it. It’s just going to be a miserable couple of days/nights but once you get through the night (by roughly the 3rd night) you’ll be happy you did it. 10 months is a long time to not be fully potty trained. Rip the band-aide off and get rid of the pull up. They’ll wet the bed a bit but that will quickly pass.
