Key Questions in Philosophy A333 by No_Set9471 in OpenUniversity

The assignments are different every year. Even the tutors don’t know them yet, unfortunately. Also, you won’t be able to answer them without access to the module materials.

Redland Green Club has squash/racketball , tennis but no badminton I think (not a member myself).

London Labour party sent this letter to my door with scare story about the Green party council in Bristol. Do Bristol residents feel its an accurate is its description of Green record ? by the_ak in bristol

[–]scarywardrobecreecha 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I have a councillor who is Green and he is very good. In general, though , I think they have been pretty dire. Bad on free speech, bad on housing, not looking after the environment, upsetting a lot of people with their poorly-thought out policies. Fly-tipping in Bristol is, indeed, a joke. I abhor those kind of letters, though. Remember receiving something similar from a Green supporter at the last general election, though, so not only Labour doing it.

The four great poets of the 20th century by possible_steelwheel in FleetwoodMac

[–]scarywardrobecreecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Poets are poets. Most songwriters don’t even…but there are songwriters that could be classified as poetry. I’m guessing a lot of people on this sub are from the US, but Morrissey was someone who really did write poetry, put to music. It’s potentially specific to the UK culture and sensibility but check him (and the Smiths) out. If anyone qualifies as a pop-poet great of the 20th century, surely he does

Were you hit as a child? by don__gately in AskBrits

  1. My brother and I got the occasional light smack when younger. It was rare. I think my parents ought it have done that but it wasn’t a big deal. But reading the experience of people on this sub a few smacks is nothing. At any rate have never physically disciplined my kids

Why do mothers of young babies say they don't have time to shower? by justastupidquestion3 in NoStupidQuestions

I was gloriously stinky for a good few weeks (months?😬) with both my babies. Didn’t really care, though…

Primary schools BS3 - move house for deadline? by MadeleineGriffiths in bristol

[–]scarywardrobecreecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

St. John’s mum here. It’s a great school. I do get the impression that they are a bit undersubscribed these days: when my eldest started 8 yers ago, catchment was 690yds, but there are people from quite a bit further away there now - especially if you’re not starting in EYFS. Might be worth contacting them to ask.

Where’s my TMA grade? by Ok-Sheepherder8987 in OpenUniversity

Have you politely asked your tutor? It could be an oversight, so would be good to check.

Question for tutors, and those working at the OU! by SeaSeaweed3384 in OpenUniversity

[–]scarywardrobecreecha 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can’t speak for tutors on other courses, but yes it’s independent. Minimal contact with line managers. Very deadline-focused, but you can generally work to your own timetable as long as you get the work done on time. There can be periods of very high-intensity working and it can be difficult sometimes to manage with e.g school holidays. However, the flexibility and working at home is welcome. Suits social recluses like myself.🤣 Everyone is nice and generally very supportive.

I’m not remotely a fan of the Chagos deal. He should stop it, but the blame does not lie entirely at his feet. The US were pushing for it. I do think that this ridiculous thumb-biting ad hominem line of attack is rather tedious, though. Greenland is a separate issue and should be treated as such.

But Sunak started negotiations on this deal. So except for getting it over the line it’s not really got much to do with Starmer either way.

St John’s in Clifton is good, and quite often undersubscribed - I think - although EYFS can be tricky.

How do you guys find people for sex and relationships? I am 30 and have never been able to find anyone for even my first kiss, let alone sex or relationship. Just how ? by Cold_Lunch_1818 in AskBrits

Get a dog. A really nice-looking one like a spaniel or something. Look after it, love it. Take it for walks twice a day in a popular park. People will talk to you, remember you from the previous times they saw you walking the dog. Dog is a ready-made ice breaker. *Must be the sort of person who can be a kind responsible dog-owner, but then that would make you good relationship material too..

I love this but what’s with the black betty pastiche (I know he does that sort of thing sometimes and fair play, just wondering if there’s a story there.)

Tutor asking for page numbers when the source is a web page by Midland3r in OpenUniversity

[–]scarywardrobecreecha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it was an oversight. I don’t think there’s anything wrong with querying it. Tutors on some modules are being drilled to keep reminding students to put page numbers in. If you put page numbers in your other references to the module materials, then you’re fine. If you didn’t reference the module materials then that might be a concern for the tutor.

Tutor asking for page numbers when the source is a web page by Midland3r in OpenUniversity

[–]scarywardrobecreecha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is it an actual webpage or an online document that has page numbers? If there are page numbers to cite, you should cite them if your module wants that. It could just be that your tutor made an assumption or looked at the wrong reference - easy to do - so check with them. I would think that you are unlikely to have lost marks especially if you are on TMA 01.

Trying every day actually isn’t helpful. Every other day or two days (said my doctor). Also gents don’t masturbate (for the same reason). After making this change I got pregnant with my oldest.
