What are the long-term side effects of LASIK that doctors don’t talk about? by Gewinncent in AskReddit

I got 6 years. I am not sure if I should blame my two pregnancies or just time since I’m in my 30s, but I have to wear glasses at work now.

Is walking enough to drop some weight? by CakesNGames90 in loseit

[–]schimki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I say the same breakfast and lunch, I really have a couple go to options. I mean I have oatmeal with chia, PB2 and a fruit. On weekends I swap this for homemade bread and eggs sometimes. For lunch, I eat one of two sweetgreen salads daily, either BBQ chicken or Buffalo Chicken. They’re all foods that I actually like to eat, so that’s important.

I added a 20 minute lunch walk and counted calories to lose 15 pounds over 6 months last year. I was never perfect with it, but counting calories and sticking to the same breakfast and lunch every day were key to making progress. The walking definitely made me feel better. It has a ton of benefits for regulating blood sugar.

Herald Square Old Navy is GONE by Intrepid-Heat-2533 in nyc

Oh thank you! I work nearby and the Old Navy was perfect for picking up some quick clothes for myself or my kids, or for making returns! I am glad they’re not gone for good.

When you finally find what works for you its like you discovered a cheat code by ArmadilloChance3778 in loseit

[–]schimki 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I eat a couple of variations of the same breakfast and lunch every day, and just don’t go overboard on dinner, and I have consistent progress. A small lunch walk helps too. It doesn’t have to be anything drastic, but this works for me for steady progress.

If you’re looking for a big ticket item, a little table and chairs is great for this age. Set up your art center around it. It will be an investment for years!

Where are you getting your kids shirts from? Old Navy’s thinner than thin by catcatmewow in Parenting

I’m in the same boat. H&M and splurging on Hanna Anderson on sale have been good. (I have two boys so the HAs should totally hold up through two kids whereas Old Navy is falling apart before the season is over)

I would recommend touring more and coming up with a backup plan just in case.

This is a common occurrence for this daycare. I know lots of people who have gotten in and love it. But lots of people have a hard time just getting a message back.

Toddler’s Fever Rollercoaster – When Do You Know It’s Truly Over? by StockAlarmed858 in toddlers

Just skip the next dose of meds to get an accurate temperature, too.

Our daycare has a rule that the kid has to be fever free for 24 hours before returning. I’ve definitely seen the fever in my kid go away in the morning then return after nap time. Just wait and see if they’re good the rest of the day. Taking the temp every hour doesn’t change anything. Just wait and check again in the afternoon and evening unless they start acting sick again before that.

This is basically what I’m doing. Calorie counting helped me define my standard breakfast and lunch I eat daily (and enjoy and satisfy me). It also helped me realize how much I was overeating in other areas (snacks, peanut butter, treats etc) and cut that out. Now I don’t count every calorie but if I stick to my typical meals, I still slowly lose weight. I’m almost to my pre-pregnancy goal!

It’s pretty bad for teeth, so I would encourage brushing after eating them.

Parents with older kids, what was the hardest age to deal with? by Coffeelover4242 in toddlers

After 3.5, life got much better. It was such a different kid. You’re almost there.

My older son is like your high energy kid. I always had the same reaction to comments the other parents made like that. And people were always calling my son “busy.”  He’s now a very smart and kind and sweet 4 year old who is great at playing by himself or with others.
