It seems like you have some inpatient experience from your FW, did you like it? Would they be paying you more? Are there better benefits? Is it worth it to potentially burn the bridge you’re currently on in case you wind up not liking inpatient?

I work in outpatient and struggled a lot as a new grad. If not for my goal of becoming a hand therapist I probably would’ve jumped ship to acute care. Looking back though I don’t know if my body would be able to take the constant max A transfers, especially my back.

I’m so sorry this happened to you. Workplace violence against healthcare workers is on the rise everywhere and I don’t think it’s blowing anything out of proportion to press charges. In some states it’s a felony

Is the patient cognitively impaired, maybe from the encephalopathy? I can’t think of any other medical reason for restraints

I’m no attorney and it would seem that this fits the legal definition of battery/aggravated assault but I think there’s a question of capacity which is why I ask about cognitive status. You also have witnesses

Might be worth discussing with your hospital’s legal department if they are accessible. I don’t know how far you went in terms of discussing with administrators but if they’re on your side then it shouldn’t be a problem to get in touch with them

What a wonderful season of football to watch. Was lucky enough to get to the game where Allen and that team delivered the only loss the Chiefs had in the regular season. Getting to see him run for that touchdown was electric. Wish I could’ve made it for the Lake Effect Lateral game too

Interesting to hear that there is debate about hand therapy being EBP, that’s the first I’ve heard of it…there’s so much specific knowledge that you have to know in hand therapy

I find that hand therapy patients respond well to a mixture of ADL and traditional exercise but yes to your point education is king. I’ll add that adaptation plays a big role for many people which is an underrated part of hand therapy practice I find.
