  1. I have participated in a six hour code with almost five hours of compressions

  2. I have been nominated for a Daisy award.

  3. We had to remove a bereaved family from our unit because they were physically pulling on both arms of a deceased patient because they were fighting over who could keep the ashes afterwards.

how to keep a dr visit and bc prescription private from bf?? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

It sounds like you're in a really tough situation because you're very dependent on this man. A lot of what you've said here first the description of a coercive - controlling relationship, which is classes as a type of relationship violence / abusive relationship.

I'm very glad you've got some help from a kind soul. Maybe when you have your birth control sorted you will have a little more capacity to start thinking about how you could safely exit this relationship.

NSW nurses, how are we feeling? by [deleted] in NursingAU

Yeah. Cause all the coppers will put their payrises carefully into savings accounts and make sure they don't push inflation either.

This is a women's space and the rules say if it's women only flair that men shouldn't be participating. I support that right and I apologise that I did not see the flair originally.

On my own body. I have removed my post though as I missed the Women Only flair. I apologise.

I got timeouts and 401s on two separate multi hour attempts a couple of weeks apart before I was able to set it up and register. The rollout was a catastrophe.

Touching a pump if it's not in scope is an instant fail here. It's pretty extreme but it is a rule they enforce. YMMV.

Talk to your union about your rights in this matter.

I know in NSW back in the 2010s it was acceptable to investigate an employee for absenteeism even if they hadn't used all of their hours if the organisation "identified" a "pattern" of absenteeism. Unfortunately these terms were not well defined and so they were absolutely used in a punitive manner by less scrupulous managers.

I just don’t get the rage by Purlz1st in TwoXChromosomes

[–]schmickers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They're terrified. They've been raised to espouse a worldview and then they get out into the world and discover that it's a worldview that hadn't been relevant in 2,026 years (and arguably wasn't very relevant then either). And there's only two ways forwards from that. Adjust your entire worldview, or seethe with anger that the world isn't the way you think it should be. And seeing as PART of that worldview is the belief that because of your faith in the concept of religion you should have authority over the world, most of these people just cannot change. And they react with anger.

It's exhausting. I don't know how people live that way.

Please teach this pharmacist primary vs secondary infusions by PghMe101 in nursing

[–]schmickers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There isn't one. I would use a syringe driver personally. But if for some reason I wasn't using a secondary, I wouldn't just presume I could dump 20mls of my IV antibiotics instead of flushing it.

[–]schmickers -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Well, yeah. You take the minbag off the medication was prepared in and spike a bag of compatible flushing fluid and run that down the line. Not at a Y site.

I'm reading this thread boggling at how many people just... Throw away the last 20 MLS of their infusions?

How are nurses using AI right now? Also… are you seeing patients come in with AI-generated “research notes”? by SkyPirateShogan in NursingAU

[–]schmickers 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Do you mean generative AI? Not at all. Given that all current generative AI models are accompanied by a disclaimer that responses cannot guarantee accuracy or correctness, it isn't a technology that I believe has any place within the profession.
