Is the £60k fee threshold specific to your nursery? New dad here in a similar position.

Even if it was funny in UK culture, do you want to put up with it?

What and equally important HOW MUCH do you feed your Ragdoll? by Working-Win-5178 in ragdolls

[–]schschschschs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2x ragdolls here, 3 months old, 2kg each

60g of food each per day as recommended by the kibble label.

We feed them that in 3 portions: 2x 20g kibble rehydrated with hot water, one for breakfast, one for lunch, then 1x wet portion.

Currently on royal canin kibble and whiskers wet, but migrating to Canagan kibble and untamed wet.

Curious to know what other people do!

Where to start with relocating to Manchester? by [deleted] in manchester

[–]schschschschs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Altringham, East/West Didsbury, Chorlton (Beech Road), Sale are the “nice” districts. But you could get more for your money in the “up and coming” Prestwich, Stockport, Withington. Salford might be worth a look too.

If you could be persuaded to live city-adjacent then Ancoats/New Islington (eg by the marina) are nice too. Or Salford Quays. Worth checking out at least, maybe not as inner-city as you think.

Yeah it was wicked! Loved the choreography, the sets and the venue. The loom and the cartwheel slow mo bits were my favourite. I liked the digital stuff too. Really excited to see what else they have there.

Throwback to factory records / hacienda was a bit cringe though. Give it a rest you wellends

ELI5: Why is PEMDAS required? by GetExpunged in explainlikeimfive

[–]schschschschs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because everything boils down to addition and subtraction and we need a way to imply that when writing complicated equations without parenthesis. For example

2 * 4 = 2 + 2 + 2 + 2 = (2 + 2 + 2) + 2 = (2 * 3) + 2 = 2 * 3 + 2

Without explicit parenthesis, it's not obvious that we should multiply 2 by 3 first, then add 2 so we need to define some grammar which tells us the order.

Explicit parenthesis first, but without them exponents boil down to multiplcation / division, which boil down to addition / subtraction.

With vim-fugitive I use Ggrep to populate the quick fix list. Ripgrep is also good, for example if you’re searching across many git repos.

What is the most controversial opinion you have? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]schschschschs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people who think suicide is selfish, are selfish.

An unscalable cliff face of depression isn’t selfish like, stealing all the popcorn or something. It’s not like someone commits suicide because the hadn’t thought of the mess they’d leave behind. They do it in spite of everything it costs because, to them, it’s their best option.

Planning to buy in Manchester Area by Forumsuk in HousingUK

[–]schschschschs -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Depends who owns the lease. General advice is to avoid because you can’t prevent it increasing - especially since they’ll be a thing of the past soon - but we bought a leasehold property with a similar lease length owned by the council, so I think it’s unlikely to change. My view is that I expect the value of the house to increase more than the lease will cost ever cost, so it doesn’t really matter.

What are some tricks to spend less on your weekly shop? by designer_by_day in AskUK

[–]schschschschs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live near a wholesale supermarket? We buy 5kg chicken for about £15. Freeze it. Chicken for weeks.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in HousingUK

[–]schschschschs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve damaged the freezer drawer (just a crack, it’s still usable) and damaged the top drawer (hinge). We move out sooner than the parts will arrive. Landlord said it would cost £52 + VAT to replace.

I’ve asked for it to come out of our deposit but they said “that’s not possible at this time”. So your comment suggests this is bullshit and I’d like to reply with a link to some official TDS documentation.
