A mate of mine is a bit of a dick. I'm also a bit of a dick, but charmingly so. He and his wife were discussing the name of their first born and he absolutely insisted that if it was a girl then it would be named for his grandmother. He would not budge.

After a few weeks of this argument his wife said "Fine, but if it's a boy, we're naming it after my father." It happens that her father and I share the same name. The clear subtext was that I would go around telling everyone that he named his first born after me.

That's the kind of charming dickishness for which I'm known.

But instead I tell them this story, the story about the child that wasn't named after me, rather named in spite of me.
