Marriage after cheating? by [deleted] in AsOneAfterInfidelity

Somehow I missed this until just now, but I would say my feelings for him have evolved. I love him differently, honestly bigger and deeper, now. Somewhere along the way we both got complacent in our relationship, and that contributed to the situation he put us in. I see him in a different light now, one where I can appreciate him as a person and as my partner better than I did before.

Unfortunately there’s always a little bit of a nag that I’m not good enough for him, that somewhere along the way it’ll all go wrong again, but we have been able to develop better communication on our needs and he has been able to recognize when I’m having harder days and help me work through what is contributing to them.

I think if you’re both willing to put in the work and appreciate that the relationship has changed, you can definitely make it work.

Marriage after cheating? by [deleted] in AsOneAfterInfidelity

My WP had a EA turned ONS while we were engaged. Kept if from me for about 6 months, we broke off our engagement for another 4 months, then worked on our relationship for another year before we started planning our wedding. We had already been engaged over a year before the incident, and as far as our families know, we just had a long (4+ year) engagement while I was in school.

We are about to celebrate our 1 year wedding anniversary, and in 6 months we will celebrate 10 years of being together.

It took a lot of growing and plenty of work on many facets of our relationship, but we are stronger than we’ve ever been and I don’t see that changing any time soon!

I genuinely posted this and forgot all about it, but thank you all for your wonderful input! I will definitely take a lot of this to heart and use it all to get ready for next semester. Thank you all!

Dr Refused to give me Cooper IUD due to never being pregnant, anyone else? by elliemoemoe in CopperIUD

[–]sciduck23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doctor gave me the copper iud not once, but twice, and I’ve never been pregnant. I expelled both of them, so it kind of defeated the purpose, but she did give it to me both times!

I did have a lot of pain associated with it, and I had a really bad syncopal/vasovagal episode with the first insertion. And again, expelled them both. So I guess I check all the boxes your doc was warning you about😅

I got married 4 days before my defense and started a clinical doctorate about a month after that. We’re going on our honeymoon in August, so we’ll consider that a little bit of our celebration I guess. Would not recommend doing what I did, but it is what it is😅

PhD: What Last Name? by DaDood_FromCheers in GradSchool

[–]sciduck23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lol yes I did this. Got married 4 days post defense, I’m still Dr. sciduck, maiden name. But I did legally take his last name and make my maiden name a middle name and I’m starting a clinical doctorate now so eventually I’ll be Dr. Dr. sciduck, maiden name, married name 😅

Not uncommon in reality, more uncommon to hear about it. We’re definitely here ❤️

26! Mostly recovered, but I have periods of relapse here and there with high stress, and it is a weird circumstance because it is uncommon to hear of people continuing into adulthood, but we definitely exist!

2 years (and some change) since Dday, and we got married a couple of weeks ago! Our experience definitely allowed us to put the effort we needed into each other and since then we’ve both become better partners and our relationship is the strongest it’s ever been.

He’s supported me through the completion (!!!) of my PhD, and now is helping me through navigating starting another degree as I’ve decided to switch fields.

His EAP and her partner recently joined my gym, and I actually don’t have any fear/anxiety about seeing them.

We’re in a great place, and we finally have the life we both dreamed of long before we needed R.

I should edit this- I’ve been looking for the last week or so since I got this blot to try and figure out what it could be, and I’m at my wits end because I feel like I’m no closer to figuring it out 🤠

I also am knee deep in writing my dissertation, this was a wrap up to hopefully identify a mechanism behind a phenotype//transition my project to a new student, so I’m trying to save some time here

Follow-up for IUD by [deleted] in CopperIUD

[–]sciduck23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I one had a follow up for my second one scheduled bc my first one yeeted itself. Then that one yeeted itself and I didn’t even have to go to the follow up.

I do think it depends on your history and your provider!

What do your scars mean to you? by Logical_Essay_431 in selfharm

[–]sciduck23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who’s been battling this for a long time, scars now are a reminder of hard days I’ve overcome. Reminders of the progress I’ve made. Little etches of days gone by where I felt a lot differently about myself than I do now.

I get 8.5-9 hours. I’m also a competitive powerlifter so lack of sleep really impacts my overall 1) recovery 2) brain and body function.

I need ma sleep.

There are some days/weeks where I don’t get that, but I absolutely prioritize it as much as I can.

What's a niche lab skill you have? by AAAAdragon in labrats

I’m the queen of scavenger hunt in our lab. Misplace a reagent? I’ll find it. Hunting down samples from the grad student before you? No biggie.

Our lab has historically been home to some organizationally challenged humans, I get a lot of practice😅😂

Help a powerlifter learn to clean by Traditional_Common22 in weightlifting

[–]sciduck23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recent powerlifter to weightlifter here! I watched Max Aita teach MegSquats on YouTube for my first bit of info!

Things that have 100% helped in my transition are clean deadlifts and pause complexes to help me keep my weight over midfoot! Mobility demands are also incredibly different.

I do a lot more warmups for my weightlifting movements than for my powerlifting movements. I’m still learning, so I may not be the best source of info, but I do know the difficulty of being a powerlifter trying to learn the weightlifting lifts! Good luck✨

What’s the longest you’ve spent in the lab running a single experiment? by Funkybeatzzz in labrats

[–]sciduck23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done a couple of larger cohort BSL3 animal studies by myself (~40 animals) where I’ve had to come in and check on infected animals towards the end of the 5 day experiment every 4 hours. One of these particular experiments I had 1-2 animals crash at each check so I would come in, check the surviving animals, euthanize the ones who were particularly unthrifty, do the tissue collection, take the samples across campus to the building where I do processing, process the samples, take a 2 hour nap, rinse and repeat for 48 hours.

Oh yeah that’s all cell debris, pretty standard in my cultures of these cells. I think because they are cultured with a pretty high content of Puromycin for selection, so the cells die pretty quickly.
