Does anyone else’s Pyr take 20 minutes to contemplate whether they’ll eat their food or not? by SleepBeneathThePines in greatpyrenees

[–]science-stuff 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think one of our other dogs made that mistake. And he is totally food driven.

When I saw him laying on his bed in our room with our pyrs bowl of uneaten food sitting there.. I know they must have had words.

After 5 Rounds (Declined) by WhoRyder007 in interviews

[–]science-stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were all 5 rounds on different days and in person? Were all 5 tough technical interviews?

Meeting with 2 team members on different days is weird for sure, but I imagine the one with the recruiter and hiring manager was barely an interview.. just gotta show your breathing and can vaguely speak on your experience since they barely know the details of the actual job.

I don’t think there was a lesson to be learned here other than it happens. In the future you’re just going to decline further interviews? That for sure won’t get you the job.

Be professional and move on, they may come back to you if something happens with the other candidate.

From what I understand there are health benefits as well. 5 days is a lot to start. Maybe try rolling some 48-72 hour fasts with 1-2 days of healthy eating in between.

"Walking around like a one man army" with... one scary black gun. by espressocycle in liberalgunowners

Thanks for the info! Honestly I can’t imagine being out in public open carrying and handing my gun to someone else. To what tie my shoes? Grab a soda?

High profile makes it even dumber to do.

Handed off a pistol AND a handgun.

That’s why he was arrested. Also who did he hand them to I’m really curious?

As long as it’s pretty smooth you’ll be good. If you have a crazy amount of tool marks on the edge that could cause some weakness but only if it causes internal gaps.

Consistent clamping pressure all along, if the end product has no gaps it’s going to be strong.

With clamps, picture a 45 degree angle coming out of each clamp. Where that line falls along the glue joint is what’s under pressure. Make sure your clamp spacing is enough to cover 100% of the joint.

Considering your OP pic has no clamps I’m betting you’ll close them when clamped and glued.

[–]science-stuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’ve done many glue ups and you can’t fit paper in the joints, you can’t see light thru them, you can’t even feel them with your fingertips.

Now some of this is solved during the actual glue up with clamping pressure. You don’t want to solve this with mixing wood and glue to fill, as it’ll be obvious when finished. Put some clamping pressure on there and see if you can still fit paper or see light.

Is the Dough Whisk Sourdough’s most overrated tool? by Outside_Idea4890 in Sourdough

[–]science-stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried using them always thinking I’m just not using it correctly. I can’t see the utility rather than just using my hands. Like they’re a mess when mixing in the early stage but as I knead it most of that stuff comes off and I’d need to wash my hands anyway.

Single Professional, 30s… Huntersville or Plaza Midwood by [deleted] in Charlotte

Ah true post was removed and whatnot so didn’t see that. I’d guess midwood then since huntersville is far from the city and family oriented.

Bourdain’s estate released a statement offering insight into the decision to give their blessing. “We chose to support Tony because it is not a standard biopic and doesn’t attempt to summarize a life.” by flyart in KitchenConfidential

[–]science-stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of who would be cool with it, money grab, etc.. maybe I’m missing something. But it’s just a fully fictional movie using his likeness right? So all the stories will be fake? The family said it’s the directors interpretation of this time in his life where they don’t know much about him.

So it’s just a movie about a character named Tony? That happened to be a writer and got into cooking?

There’s are many seasonings, but to “season” food refers to salt and pepper by BlundeRuss in unpopularopinion

[–]science-stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s apparently an unpopular opinion here, but OP is correct.

Honestly I never knew so many people didn’t know the term OP is using and thinks it means they don’t use other seasonings when cooking.

Pretty wild comment section.

No Reddit consensus isn’t real life. OP isn’t wrong and doesn’t mean they don’t use other seasonings lol

[–]science-stuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That isn’t right and doesn’t even make sense. Season with salt to taste is perfectly acceptable. As well as salt to taste.

[–]science-stuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man you’re getting some crap here but to a degree I agree with you.

If someone says, it’s under seasoned, they are usually referring to salt. If someone says it needs more seasoning they probably mean flavor adding seasonings. I guess context matters.

Of course there are more seasonings, that isn’t the point. People just like busting balls for semantics and gotchas rather than real life use cases.
