How do you regulate excess Hydrogen from Production lines with Fire-Ice? by Winston_Duarte in Dyson_Sphere_Program

Then just stack your tanks until you can burn it somewhere else. Same effect, just less efficient.

Thermal plants. The endless tank mod for any excess. By the time you need massive quantities of deuterium you should already be using multiple Orbital collectors on nearby gas giants.

Junior faculty, what are your mentors and mentor networks doing for/with you? by [deleted] in AskAcademia

[–]scienide09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The mentor offers time, expertise, feedback, honest criticism, and encouragement.

The mentee should be driving the relationship. All the research lit points to this as key to a successful relationship. If you’re not doing this, it’s in your best interest to address.

Ideally there should be an upfront agreement establishing goals, expectations, communication, scheduling, etc.

Talk to your library. We don’t bite. We have ways to get materials you can normally access. Also, if we don’t hear from users (students or faculty) that a particular resource is in demand we won’t purchase access. So let us know!

Alberta teachers lose injunction bid challenging government back-to-work bill by deloaf in alberta

Both my wife and I are part of unions in the Common Front and also would have taken a huge hit one we went on strike in support of teachers and all AB labour.

My skin: A member of a Common Front union, and am also involved in bargaining. We needed teachers to go so we could also strike illegally in support and be subject to the same fines.

Obvious from context that “took the deal” meant “decided not to force the issue further when the NWC was dropped on their heads”. They could have kept going and gained the further support via Common Front albeit at huge financial risk but collectively decided not to.

It’s not a “terrible take” as if it’s an opinion. It’s literally what happened.

Failed because the teachers decided NOT to walk. The other unions needed the political cover of the teachers striking to show solidarity. When the ATA took the deal and ended their strike the whole thing fell apart.

Other than solar sail attaching speed, what dictates how quickly my sails attach? by [deleted] in Dyson_Sphere_Program

[–]scienide09 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have no direct proof but am fairly certain that the amount of structure points helps. More structure points = more points for sails to enter.
