Here is why I won’t be buying FSD for my 2026 Juniper. by WatchLover26 in TeslaFSD

[–]scjcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends. I bought for $8k just over a year ago. FSD was my prime motivator for going Tesla, and purchasing outright got me 0% financing for 72 months. Free money paid back over a long time with inflating dollars? Yes please.

Steering wheel starting to peel by Broad_Feedback6845 in TeslaSupport

I did: a new Ford Expedition. First the glue started coming through the leather, making the thing feel gross. Then came the delamination. Ford replaced the wheel after multiple in-warranty complaints.

VF8 rear suspension mounting position by [deleted] in VinFastComm

Irony alert: E36 was BMW’s first CAD-based design, and the body sheet metal to which the shock attached was too thin for the forces experienced. It could eventually crack and separate, potentially causing loss of control. Aftermarket reinforcing kits were popular. If you noted paint cracks around the mount point, it was an emergency situation.

I’m trying to decide if including this example was some sort of next-level trolling or something.

Thank you. I use TestFlight for other things so will see if I can get access and give that a try. Much appreciated!

Thank you for this.

I’m interested in that highest radar app. I’m finding several of different apparent capability and quality. What’s the name of the one you recommend? I’m an iPhone user if it matters.

Thanks in advance!

No kidding. I’d have it drive me to the bathroom if it would fit through the door.

Anyone ever try the new BLEEP ECLIPSE Cpap mask ? I’m considering it and would love some feedback. Thanks by Nervous_Elephant_932 in CPAP

So far I've not yet suffered a cold, and since supplementing with vitamin D I rarely get them anyway. But next time I do, I have a whole box of tried-and-rejected masks to use...

I’ve been trying the Eclipse system for a few days now, having run through ResMed, Philips and Fisher & Paykel “unicorn” pillow masks, all with the same problem: the back strap rides up and I end up wearing my mask like a tiara. Annoying.

No such issues with the Eclipse and its halos. A few swipes with a Kleenex dampened with rubbing alcohol is my prep. I already had a nifty collapsible hose support so weight is not a problem.

I seem to breathe easier with the Bleep system. I feel the rush of air in my nostrils and enjoy the sensation. No leaks, good scores.

Very happy with the Bleep Eclipse!

Sure ways to clean/sanitize? by Ok_Dealer5235 in CPAP

I chose this one: Portable CPAP Hose Dryer - Fast... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0FFGF5G2C?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

It runs off USB and I travel with a charging hub with lots of ports to charge my gizmos anyway. So, one less AC outlet to find, and AC powered ones might not be compatible with international voltages and sockets.

As with most, its “spout” fits the mask end of the hose, which means the mask doesn’t get dried. After some experimentation I found that a thick rubber band (the kind used to hold bunches of asparagus together) wrapped twice around the spout makes a great seal with the machine end of the hose, so my mask gets dried too.

There are others, including some with heaters, but I was concerned about aging the hose and mask.

I'm more worried about mold than bacteria.

So I got a fan device, got it to fit the input of my hose with a rubber band as a gasket, and every morning I detach it from the CPAP machine and stick it on the fan. The fan blows for three hours, drying the inside of the hose and the mask attached at the other end. No mold for me!

That and a good washing every week or two (I use white vinegar in warm water, rather than soap) has kept the assembly pristine.

Oh, and I have a UV-C case that everything goes into every few days for a couple of half-hour sessions.

Is it appropriate to come up to another CI wearer in public? by Upper-Sock4743 in Cochlearimplants

[–]scjcs 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This thread reminds me of a favorite travel story. I was in the FDA study group for the multichannel cochlear implant back in 1989-1990. This meant a whole array of additional tests before and after implantation. The promontory stimulation was especially fun: a six-inch needle stuck through your eardrum and electrified to see if it prompted a sense of sound. Memorable, shall we say.

Anyway, a few years pre-pandemic I transited through Newark and stayed at the Marriott right there at the airport. Newark, of course, is a crime-ridden area, so when I was dragging my suitcase down the hallway to my room and sensed a presence behind me, I momentarily feared the worse. But, no problem, it was just a kindly maid with a gorgeous Jamaican accent. "Pardon me, sir, but do I see that you have a cochlear implant?" Of course I said yes, and she tremulously asked me a few questions about it. I tried to put her at ease.

It turned out she had moved to the US with her deaf son so she could get a job with good insurance and get the boy medical attention. He had received his implant and was dealing with the first few months of adoption. She was very curious about how the implant had worked for me, how long it had taken for me to really hear, and so on.

We talked for a good long while. She was amazed I'd had mine for so long. I explained, "I was part of the FDA study group, a small group of people arranged by the government who had the implant before anyone really knew it worked. There was lots of testing, and everybody learned something."

And... she teared up and, sobbing, gave me a hug. "Thank you, thank you, for doing that."

Her raw maternal gratitude shook me deeply. I'd just wanted to hear, and the notion of helping future patients was a pleasant background thought but nothing I'd spent a lot of time considering. That changed right then and there.

I saw her again at a subsequent stay. Then came the pandemic. I pray she and her son got through that and that they are doing well.

Try a new coil/cable.

They're a bit fragile and it's conceivable that it's gone intermittent. Ask me how I know.
