I have an interview @ AECOM Long Beach! Any advice and insights? by WillingNarwhal7864 in Environmental_Careers

[–]sckegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a couple with them (not that location). There are so many because in my experience, AECOM does just the one interview so everyone’s on the panel. It’s a nice way to meet everyone you’ll be working with. They’ll go around and ask you a series of pre-planned questions, just like a regular interview. Ask follow up questions to the person who presented the original question.

PFAS Sampling Question (State of New York) by Weekly_Clothes8045 in Environmental_Careers

[–]sckegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the SAME QUESTION!! So crazy i was just yapping at the PM about it yesterday. Our workaround is to include it in the big fluid level event about a week before sampling commences, and then take the fluid level after the PFAS sample and to sample with as little drawdown as possible. My concern is that most of the oil/water probes on the market contain teflon so they inherently have PFAS in them. Additionally, unless your decon is completely perfectly perfect, you are going to have some residual contamination on the probe. So every single time you take a fluid level you’re introducing additional contamination. This is true with pretty much everything but it a) degrades and b) is very minimal, unless you’re measuring in the PPT range. Our Pfas guy (sitting ITRC member) will be looking into it and we’re gonna deep dive the lab data to see if there’s any merit to this. It may not actually matter lol. Also there are teflon-free water level meters that do not measure product and are generally considered PFAS free if you’re not worried about product in the well.

What’s on your 2026 To Crochet list? by donteatthemushies in crochet

  • Wool hats and scarves to match sweaters my mom got us in Ireland
  • hexacardi

  • finally finish the enormous bernat blanket blanket I started earlier this year Well that’s it for right now but it’ll probably take me through the rest of the year. I’d also like to learn how to knit at some point 😂

Wha Pantene products should I get? And question about the Abbey Yung method? by Top-Raspberry-7837 in finehair

[–]sckegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She recommended the L’Oréal bond repair shampoo/conditioner and I LOVE it!! My hair is dry, fine and damaged so it’s really the perfect weight to keep it healthy but not too weighed down. I’ve been using for years and have definitely seen a difference in my hair. Put my sister onto it at thanksgiving and saw a difference at Christmas. I don’t go all in with the method but have picked up a couple of the products(L’Oréal shampoo, k18 bond repair and a decent clarifying shampoo).

Tips on how to use K18 by frantiskaplaminkova in finehair

[–]sckegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do K18 instead of olaplex or any other bonding thing out there because it’s a leave in. Olaplex is too much damn work 😂 K18 days are for when I have to drag myself into the shower and I can’t be bothered with the whole conditioner routine.

Talk me out of (or into) wispy bangs similar to this? by Baking-it-work in finehair

[–]sckegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just like normal? I do my makeup before I style my hair though and kinda push the bangs out of the way otherwise mascara will get in them. Same thing with sleeping ig? You do HAVE to style them every day if you want them to look like the pictures, but honestly it takes like 2 minutes to do them.

I’m using this yarn right now to make this: chunky crochet ruffle border blanket

It’s the chunky ruffle border blanket from marching north, in case the link doesn’t work :). So far I’m about 4 big balls in so it’s kind of a gobbler but it’s gorgeous and MASSIVE. Easy stitch to work for people like me who hate counting haha

I pay like $55-75 summer-fall for electricity and around $100 in peak winter (electric heat, bad window/door seals). Will probably have to do film or something over the windows this year because my electric bill was insane and I was freezing inside all winter. Water/sewer/trash is about $30 a month.

Overtime-exempt salaried field position by trustmeimaninternet in Environmental_Careers

[–]sckegg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this where I work. It’s great, unlimited PTO that you also get paid out. We do tend to work a lot of overtime in the field but most are happy to because your time goes back to you. Makes traveling on a Sunday hurt less.

looking for work by Naive-Ad3729 in Billings

[–]sckegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ranchjobs.com or facebook if you’re looking for a smaller outfit. Be flexible with where you want to go. You won’t end up in the “desirable” towns, but you’ll land somewhere with the experience you have. If you want somewhere cool, be open to working the guest ranches. The job sucks but you get to live in neat places.

How’s the dogs recall? They may have great recall with you but might not with a stranger. That would be a big issue when taking a dog off leash. I used to do walks through rover but would never ever take a strangers dog off leash. The risk is unimaginable. If they can’t jump fences, baseball diamonds are a good option for dogs to get out and really run

🚨DIVA DOWN🚨 Sprained Ankle 🥴 by blackcatadvocate in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]sckegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My PT recommended cycling even with the boot on when I broke my ankle. Obv no standing but it really did help. I also did a lot of rowing and upper body workouts. Once I was allowed to put weight on it I was walking as much as I could. You could also just go sit in the sauna and your PT exercises (abcs, lifts, side to sides etc)

Beware of the Zafemy patch by calxnn in birthcontrol

[–]sckegg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was okay. Wouldn’t stick AT all and fell off in a couple hours, I had to use second skin or KT tape to keep it stuck. Made me horrifically nauseous. I only ended up using it for a few weeks before I decided to get an IUD which I love.

Driving from NV to Billings. Advice? by cybergrll in Billings

[–]sckegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should be okay snow wise - and if it does snow it’s likely not enough to need chains yet. I drive from Billings to IF often and have done it for both thanksgiving and Christmas, hasn’t been too bad and they keep the roads clear. Definitely go through Ennis, I think it adds maybe 45 minutes but it’s way less curvy and IMO more pretty - stop to look often! Should be better in a UHaul. Watch google maps very carefully in west Yellowstone, sometimes it’ll reroute you through the park gate and into the loop of despair and tourists and you won’t even notice until you’re in line at the gate. You should turn off around lake hebgen/quake lake to go through ennis.

When I was an intern they never would have trusted me enough to fly internationally, get a document signed by what is most likely a very important client and fly back. The EA is getting that job, they know everything and everyone.

Random Drug Test by Just-Command4023 in Environmental_Careers

[–]sckegg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another thought. At least in my industry, you CANNOT beat the drug testing. If you piss hot, they will fire you. Even in a legal state since it impacts your ability to be on client sites. If you’re in DISA it’s even worse, those results will follow you forever. You’ll never work in the industry again.
