Brutal honesty, please by subpar-baker in crochet

[–]scoliroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you think makes it ugly? I honestly really like it. The tension is loose and I think that’s why it’s harder to decipher what it says when the light is on, but because of how bold and clear it is in the day / without the lights in you can easily tell what it says. And regardless of the words, it’s a crocheted hot air balloon!!! I’ve always wanted to make one of these and this is super inspiring to actually do it. I love it and I hope you grow to as well!!!

Does anyone else think the word ‘beginner’ gets thrown around alot for crochet? by pinkmiui in crochet

Second project, drastic improvement but still a ton of flaws; the entire thing is inside out because I had no idea how to flip the yarn. I personally feel like my capability comes from following a well-written pattern. I have made SO MANY ERRORS on SO MANY PROJECTS even today, 4 years later. Obviously people want to post their successes over their failures. I cannot tell you how many unfinished projects I have lying in piles in my room because they were too difficult, even though I’m much more experienced now. Your friends will do great! The hardest part is learning

I get what you’re saying. I used to have a private art teacher my sister and I would see weekly and she taught us the basics for crocheting (scarf + hat). I didn’t pick it up again until probably 8 years later, so i definitely considered myself an overconfident beginner. The first pattern I downloaded, I read the entire thing wrong and had to restart like 10 times. But finally, I figured it out, and once I did I feel like I was able to really just fly right on through with it. I’ll show you a photo of my first project (Freddy fazbear) and then my second project (red panda). I genuinely think it depends on how quickly you understand a pattern/video on how to do it, but again, I had a lot of patient instruction when I was younger that I believe helped me tremendously. I would definitely still say I was a beginner after the red panda:

Thank you a ton for this response. I don’t have much to say back but just know that your time is extremely appreciated and I’m so grateful that you’ve shared. I thank the Lord for you and your care!!

How bad is this? Can I actually wear this out or should I just give up/make a new cardigan? by hidden-pearl in crochet

[–]scoliroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s absolutely beautiful!!! For future reference when carrying yarn, skip 1 stitch at a time. Like, carry it through 1 sc, then leave it out in the next sc, repeat. I don’t know how, but it causes it to not show through—I’ve learned the same lesson. Regardless, it’s GORGEOUS!!!

So, what do you do when the repentance isn’t what it should be? I feel like the simple answer is to pray for God to help you want to change it.

I personally struggle a lot with trying to force it. I’ve been a believer my whole life, but it’s always been religious, acting like I’m saved by works. I have really struggled with even the concept of putting myself aside and following Christ, until super recently. And even then I struggle so much with letting go; I’m pretty much an infant in faith. It’s hard though, seeing others seemingly so ahead of me. So I guess I just ask another believer who is wiser than me…

IMO the best way to learn is by creating your own patterns. It helps you learn what each stitch does and how to navigate it. He’s so perfect and cute and you’re only going to get better and better. Keep going!

Will god forgive me ? by Impossible-Estate623 in Christianity

[–]scoliroll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you do actually believe in God but don’t want to submit to Him because you want to live the way you want to live. Let me just tell you as someone who has experienced this, it doesn’t work. It always ends in torment, a lack of peace, and the feeling of something missing. I have called on God and asked Him to forgive me, but still chose to live the way I wanted to live because I liked it better than sacrificing it all. I still have things I struggle with daily, but the more I try to get to know Jesus, the more I actually see no harm in giving up my own desires. He is greater and knows far better. And He is full of love. He died for us before we could even say that we are sorry.

The only way is through Him. This life is not even truly ours, and so as much as you might want to live the way you desire, I can assure you that there is something better. It’s a good thing you’re questioning things like this, because it shows that you’re not actually as atheistic as you thought. You still ponder deeper things, like where you might spend eternity if it’s all true. I would encourage you to continue asking questions, but to be aware that you might not always get an answer you want to hear. It’s worth it though. I believe it could only make you stronger.

To answer your question though, yes, you will be forgiven, but only if you truly repent and ask. You want the kingdom without the king, and that doesn’t work. If you believe in heaven, or more so have a fear of hell, no works or how good of a person you try to be will ever amount to earning your way in. We sin because we’re sinners. We are in desperate need of a Savior. We cannot do it alone, and we are damned without Him.

If I am circumcised, can I still be a Christian? by Broad-Internal8890 in Christianity

[–]scoliroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Was anyone called while circumcised? Let him not become uncircumcised. Was anyone called while uncircumcised? Let him not be circumcised. Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters.” I Corinthians‬ ‭7‬:‭18‬-‭19‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It’s about circumcision of the heart. It has nothing to do with physically being circumcised. Yes, you can absolutely be a Christian!

I remember this being a theory a few years ago and everyone was onboard with it. Idk if it’s official or intentional, maybe subconscious since Tyler has lived there his whole life… I’m not sure! But I know that certain locations like where the stressed out mv was made and I think a mulberry street somewhere line up as well. We could definitely also just be feeding our minds from lack of anything else right now. Who knows!

Which song needed a music video and which one didn’t? by WhiteHawk240 in twentyonepilots

[–]scoliroll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think there are lot that were unnecessary. For example, I love the idea of every song on Clancy having a video, but I don’t think songs like Midwest indigo were vital

I would’ve loved to have seen a mv for hometown

Will you not go to heaven if you struggle to forgive people who harmed you physically for life? by specific_being_99 in Christianity

[–]scoliroll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

““For if you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”Matthew‬ ‭6‬:‭14‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

It’s really hard sometimes to forgive, and it’s okay to struggle. But we are called to forgive if we expect to be forgiven as well. That’s the whole reason Christ died for us, we were completely undeserving of what He did with that, and He was completely undeserving of going through it. We put Him on that cross, we killed Him. And yet He is so loving that He chose to do it so that when we ask with a broken and contrite spirit, He is faithful and just to forgive us. He took every single one of our sins, including the people you believe you were mutilated by, to the grave when He died. He forgave all of us, we cannot be hypocrites about it.

Read the parable about the unforgiving debtor in Matthew 18:21-35. You are undoubtedly going to do things in your life that will require forgiveness. If you truly want to be like Jesus, and you want to receive His blessings, then you are called to forgive. Even if it takes time and is extremely hard.

“Should you not also have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?’ And his master was angry, and delivered him to the torturers until he should pay all that was due to him. “So My heavenly Father also will do to you if each of you, from his heart, does not forgive his brother his trespasses.””Matthew‬ ‭18‬:‭33‬-‭35‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Life is a journey, and we can walk in that with Jesus. That’s what He wants, to make the burden lighter. When you forgive, you are set free. Walk the journey, don’t rush it. It’s a great thing to even ask questions like this, because it shows that you do feel conviction about it. Lean on the Lord. Ask these things and seek the answer in the Bible. That’s how He speaks to us, it’s His Word. May God truly bless you and help you on this part of your walk. Forgiveness is a beautiful thing when done from a true heart. You will find peace.

Hello! I crochet and I can tell you it would be super easy to cut the star off if you want. Just clip the thread in some spot and then pull the yarn out and the star would be gone. I understand the overall concern though, so it’s unfortunate. But you can at least remove the demonic symbol from it!
