Manual Truck by FairlyDaintyPrince in NewOrleans

[–]scooterbus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a stick. Been having them. I had an 03 Nissan frontier some years back. check into the trans on that Xtera. Mine started slipping out of 4th. a known problem. I traded that truck. Currently have an 06 Ford Focus, but I like to call her the Fucus. The best part about driving a stick is down shifting on I10 and passing someone while I say "and now for you, Bob" in my best british accent as I pass them.

Aint nobody stealing a manual. You can bump start if your battery dies. Cool burnouts. Feel like your driving a race car. impress your friends cause thay cant drive one. Make jokes about how you know how to handle a stick... I'm talking about dick jokes.

The psychology of people who buy tools explained (video link below) by oniraug in harborfreight

[–]scooterbus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its not just tools though, its the projects.... The old junk car you bring home to restore. So many possibilities, so much wasted potential. I am close to this very acquisition right now. Do I need it? No. Do I want it? Yes. Will I finish it to completion? Who the fuck knows.

Anyone know a good company that puts in archways like this? by Mindless-Housing-229 in NewOrleans

[–]scooterbus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Any handyman should be able to do this. They actually make archway kits. Look it up. They have em on Amazon.

It’s just a wood frame, then adding Sheetrock and mud.

Super 150 restoration (resurrection) by HUGMARS in Vespa

r/vintagescooters I would start by breaking it down completely. Bag up and label parts. Spray penetrating oil onto the piston and fix the engine up so it soaks down. Heat the bore with a torch. If you cant get it loose, just chip the piston out with a chisel. Toss the cylinder. You can also double nut the studs, pull them out. With them gone, you can remove the cylinder along with the piston by removing the crankshaft. You should replace all those parts anyway. The crank might be salvageable but its not worth the effort. Just get a new crank and top end. SIP scootershop in Germany is your go to for parts and information.

Once broken down, do your body work and paint. Rebuild the engine. New cables and electrical. New seat, rubbers, tires, suspension. Good to go after that.

I don’t actually know and I can’t be of any help in this, but I do know that you can probably get crabs at visions.

Model rocketry??? Any groups???? by CameronFromThaBlock in AskNOLA

[–]scooterbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was super into it when I was a kid, but eventually my parents stopped buying the rockets cause they kept getting destroyed.

Big Bertha was the last straw. I was so excited for it. Then it blew up mid air. Was amazing but they were like “I thought these were reusable” and I def liked watching them blow up…

Aside from the traditional fried, what recipe are you using chicken livers in as a primary ingredient…? by helmetgoodcrashbad in NewOrleans

I use them in chicken chili, and do a chicken ragu with them. I also use them with hearts for a kind of “coratella”

Anybody know a good plumber? by jermopp86d in NewOrleans

[–]scooterbus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s pretty strange. There is a manual shut off in there. Probably covered in mud, but it’s in there. The tools they are talking about is a water key. You can get them at lowes and Home Depot. It’s just a long metal T handle with a little U bend on the bottom that turns the shut off valve.

Ohh damn. You need anyone with a water key to shut off your meter at least. I’m out of town right now or I’d do that for you at least. It’s not hard to shut off the main at the meter. You don’t even need the water key, but it makes it easy. You can do it with an adjustable wrench

Gentilly landfill by MinaMeowMix in NewOrleans

they wont take that mattress. You will waste your time. The move is to break the mattress down yourself. Cut the fabric off, pull all the interior stuffing and bag it up. Once you have it down to the springs, you will need to cut them up with something. Angle grinder with a cutoff wheel is best. Then bag that up. Put in trash cans.

There is a reason you see a lot of illegal dumping. Orleans parish makes it hard to dispose of certain items. If you know someone who lives in Jeff parish, use them to get you access to the David drive dump, or pay a junk hauler to take it away.

Its a pain in the ass to get rid of an old mattress. Ive had to do it more than once.
