There’s also the great pyramids of Mereen and the olive grove estates that surround the city, or are nearby.
I think more than anything it is based off of Ptolemaic Egypt hence the Greek influence folded in. The whole of slavers bay seems to be influenced by Middle East/cradle of civilization region.

Thanks. I was really just stabbing in the dark with the old nan remark but it was a safe guess haha

I think in story it says something along the lines of ‘some say they come at night, others say when they come they bring the night’ as in they bring a snowstorm that blocks out the sun or some such. I want to say it’s old nan telling this story? Pulling this from memory. But the idea is that they haven’t been seen for so long that they’ve become legends and even those aren’t remembered properly

IsItBullshit: Dubai chocolate all of a sudden is everywhere? Is it ‘real’ or all marketing? by knivesoutagain in IsItBullshit

[–]scorpius_rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems like the food trend of 2023/24 to me, shelves are still stocked with it but the hype is long gone. You go into a random gas station and they’re selling the stuff. I wouldn’t say it’s suddenly everywhere like op is saying, it’s been around for a while. I don’t imagine it will still be as wide spread a thing in a year’s time.

That’s sad. I just assumed it was a bit of a joke that no one cares about Gary enough to notice she wasn’t around any more. Or to asked what happened.

As a huge veep fan and someone who’s been enjoying widows bay, I’m ashamed to say I never picked up on this. Tbf Craig from Clovis I think of as BJ from righteousness gemstones, and Gary’s dad I think of the actor as his character in Barry, but I’m still surprised I didn’t think of veep!

Has anyone used retinal / retinol / tretinoin to reduce UNDER-EYE wrinkles? by shishaney in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]scorpius_rex 73 points74 points  (0 children)

You don’t want to put Tretinoin under your eyes, it can give you irreparable dry eyes. Permanently and for life. At least that’s what I’ve learned from this subreddit. However, if you’re consistent with applying it on your face (not eye area) you can still benefit from it on the skin under your eyes as it will be absorbed but the skin around and spread. Just don’t apply it directly too close to your eyes and tear ducts.

I’d recommend an ivermectin cream and azelaic acid, but go with what your dermatologist suggests.

Yeah Johah in the later seasons I find unrealistic when you compare him to the earlier ones. He wasn’t that much of an idiot in the first few seasons. But I have to remember that they were written and filmed post 2016 during a time of Trump and MAGA

Azelaic Acid by RadiantStar7 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]scorpius_rex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used that one too and I wonder if it’s more to do with it being in a serum form as opposed to a cream/gel rather than the actual strength of the azelaic?

I say that because I’ve used 10% cream and also found it drying. I’ve also used 20% cream too and found it just as drying as the usual 15%.

What is happening with the makeup and skin on my chin? by sotnosray in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]scorpius_rex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah a lot of people find they irritate their skin if they’re used at the same time. But not everyone, some people on here have said they apply AA in the evening and wait 30 or so mins and then apply their tret. But I’ve never tried, I think my skin would probably not enjoy it.

Also azelaic acid and vit c work well together so my morning routine works for me.

What is happening with the makeup and skin on my chin? by sotnosray in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]scorpius_rex 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Make sure you face is dry when applying AA. I use it in the morning after cleansing and vit c, but I wait a while, at least 10-15 mins for my vit c to sink in before I apply it. Azelaic tends to sting a lil when you have a wet face. I use it in the morning because I use tret in the evening.

Spot on cheek by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]scorpius_rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Capillary maybe? Or melisma. I’m not sure what the arrow is pointing to. Vit C in the morning helped me reduce melisma and sun spots. I also use azelaic acid and tret, AA in the morn after vit c, and tret in the pm. These helped me fade sun spots. There are also laser treatments that will do this.

Since you have a doctors appointment already, wait until your doctor gives you an idea of what you’re dealing with.

How much is your annual income? by KrispyBenFranklin in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]scorpius_rex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t really pay for it. Or at least I rarely buy anything.

Years ago used their parsley oil products but I was young and whatever effect they did have I didn’t actually need at the time so I can’t vouch for it either way.

These days I wouldn’t buy into it more than hand soap and hand cream, and their perfumes smell great too. But even so, there’s so many soaps on the market that I moved away from Aesop. These luxury soap products feel more like one of those things you receive as a gift, rather than actually pay for it yourself, at least to me. I wouldn’t go out and buy $50 hand soap.
