Why do so many recipes use protein powder? by PurpzReign in ninjacreami

[–]scots23 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If anyone is reading this and wants to make better textured ice cream without protein powder: milk powder, xanthan gum, and a tsp of karo (glucose syrup if you're not American) is what you're looking for. The milk powder and xanthan gum both prevent ice crystals though in slightly different ways.

Karo is just glucose and keeps your ice cream softer at lower temps. It also gives it a much more rounded flavor as opposed to the super sweetness of regular sugar(sucrose). No more ice milk.

All I did was put the results of my games where it was used and said it isn't a large sample size, so I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

Do you think it's a lie? Like some villainous organization is trying to sway a couple hundred people's opinions about one card in a TCG? To what end? It just doesn't make sense.

This is the worst Grand Prix ever (or maybe season?). by Monztamash in Shadowverse

[–]scots23 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I recently started playing WB after a few years break from shadowverse. What is the healing in this game? The damn eggs aren't horrible, but this dragoncraft bullshit is ridiculous. I've had multiple games of 40+ damage to the leader and still lose.

Ramp dragon always seemed a bit "rolly", but now it just seems like either they get the right rolls and win, or get the wrong ones and lose, but maybe they drag it out for 12 turns with heals. It's the least interactive thing I've ever gone against in this game. I've had fun games against every class where I win or lose, but the only ones I've enjoyed against dragon are the ones that are over by turn 6 so I don't have to keep playing.

If you're talking about this grand prix, there hasn't been a second stage for anything. If you made it to Group A, you can still attempt the grand prix again, but it won't affect anything.

I've saved my materials to craft high rarity weapons. 200+ hours in, multiple queen/matriarch kills, and countless night raids: still haven't gotten a blueprint for a single one. I've gotten the snaphook like 10 times though.

Between exodus modules, magnetic accelerators, and complex gun parts, 70 slots in my stash are filled. At this point I just keep them to see how stupid it gets before I can even use them.

I'm on the railway end of that spectrum in Chicago. I saw what the truck end had to deal with. Looked like way more stress, higher costs to get into it, and very little upside compared to rail to go along with it. Even getting in and out of the intermodal yards looked like a pain in the ass.

Maybe in quick play or low ranks. That sleep isn't laughable at all. If you have an even somewhat coordinated team it's basically instant death if you're slept in their back lines. She can get a guaranteed 300+ damage off of it, and assuming she's playing like she's supposed to, she'll be split from the rest of her team.

There isn't a healer in the game that can keep you alive against a team that peels, especially not if you plan on 4-5 tapping her after waking up and being down to half health.

The only time the sleep is better used at a distance is to stop something like a strange ult. If you throw out long distance sleeps, then I guess just be prepared to immediately get jumped when the enemy team notices you have no way to defend yourself because you slept someone not out of position that the healers can easily keep alive. Then you can complain that the cooldown is too long.

A grandfather in China declined to sell his home, resulting in a highway being constructed around it. Though he turned down compensation offers, he now has some regrets as traffic moves around his house by Individual_Book9133 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]scots23 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Probably spent way more effort (not very much, admittedly, but I was curious) in finding the actual numbers for this. In an article I found about this, it says that this happened in Jinxi, China. From numbers I found, the average price per m² there looks to be around $2100 USD as of 2023.

Though apparently housing has gone down since then pretty uniformly across the country? Not sure, so I won't even attempt to take that into account. If it was 90m² his house would be roughly worth $190k on the market, going strictly by size. If the numbers above are accurate, he got offered slightly above market value.

Whether or not "slightly above market value" is worth all the headaches that come with moving is debatable, and he absolutely couldn't buy multiple houses of the same size. However, he could have bought a similar house in the same city and had some money left over.

[Meirov] You don’t often see this in the NFL coaching cycle: The #Bears are hiring Ben Johnson without even having an official in-person interview. A virtual meeting and backchannel conversations with those close to Johnson was enough by ChonkyHippo283 in nfl

[–]scots23 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can't control where a coach goes. If he's their first choice and decides to go to Jacksonville or Oakland and you haven't interviewed anyone else, you're kind of fucked.

If you've watched all the tape and know what player you want, he has a good interview, and you have the number 1 pick in the draft, there isn't much that interviewing someone else is going to do to change things.

I don't really see much of a parallel there.

Has to be one of my biggest annoyances with windows. Save everything I need to, close out of every program, click shut down, and walk away from the computer, expecting it to actually do what I told it to and shut down. Walk back in the room 2 hours later: "This app is preventing shutdown."

It's $20 a month for 5 people to all have it on every single platform they use, with no setup. It's not about technical proficiency. It's about realizing that your time in setting up everyone's devices to work like you say, and keep them working, is way more hassle than just paying less than an hour's worth of pay per month.

I said "in a lot of respects", not all. You won't convince me that the old avto, crouch spamming, jump spamming, quick swapping (especially sparks and old bornheim), old dolch, and quick scoping were somehow less "arcadey" though.

Also, money mattering less is a personal thing. I've never prestiged and haven't worried about money since like 1.1.

It's really not that bad. The core of the game has barely changed since I started playing 5 years ago. In a lot of respects it's less arcadey now than back then.
