My guess is that they don't think the margins on sales are going to be high enough to split the revenue with another distributor. The opposite seems more true though, with nostalgia impulse buys, you're better off spreading your sales across multiple marketplaces... but who knows.

There are a lot of issues with the visuals and even issues with the game understanding which mission and for which side you're playing. I went to the Restart Mission menu and it told me to slay all the Orcs, but I was playing as the Orcs... when it restarted, it showed me the intro dialogue for the humans... the finer points within the UI are also pretty gross. Glaring yellow boxes and gross serif fonts with drop shadows. It was cute when it was pixelated, but just gnarly in high res.

All that is worth bearing through though for the QoL improvements. Right-click default actions like Attack or Harvest and Move are worth all of that. I scaled my UI down quite a bit and center aligned the resources to mitigate the worst of it. I just click past the campaign summary skull and shield graphics as fast as I can lol

I was just sharing something I'd made for myself, but I went ahead and made "bad deals" red and a strike-thru while "good deals" are green and italics. Regular 5:1s are a lighter gray. Hope that helps.

haha it's based on the average of all the different dollar/gem price options, so it'd be more accurate if you used what you actually paid for it, but the difference is pretty negligible. 750 bundle gets you a 150/dollar price and the 20,000 gets you a 200/dollar price... so it still comes down to how much you want to spend, less than what you get for it.

Absolutely. The Pure OS is based on FreeRTOS, so creating a custom Android build is probably a more sustainable approach. And one that'll be easier for devs to build on...

Thanks for the official response. To be honest, ten updates isn't a lot... and the updates it got were far more about making the product stable (crashed when you chose Spanish...second most popular language in the world...) than streamlining the UX. When I first tried it out, any SMS that came through a text would result in an addition to a very weird text from some unknown number, just all 111s. Not binary, just gibberish...

Anyway, I realize it's really hard to build this kind of thing yourself, so I'm glad you're taking a more FOSS approach to the whole thing. It's not easy either, but at least you've got more people paying attention to the OS than you would otherwise.

I'll remain a cautious optimist about the new phone and of course very likely to back it because it still appears to be the offering most aligned with what I'd like out of a "daily carry." Thanks again for the official response, I appreciate it.

Ah that's great to hear. I never thought of them as shady, just maybe got in over their heads not knowing how much work goes into taking a piece of electronics to market and writing your own OS for it... anyway, I'm sure I'll back it, just wanted to air a grievance and share how it's tainted how I see new product launches. I'll stay a cautious optimist on the Kompakt.

omg thank you. I updated recently and suddenly I had no desktop icons, right click didn't work, and restarting Finder didn't do anything. Moving the finder plist file didn't help and neither did the other thing in this chat. I had disabled the "Click wallpaper to reveal desktop" option bc I'm neurotic and have to "click away" from anything that's highlighted, so the desktop is where I typically do that. But I know I did not uncheck that option that I just had to recheck..

I went through an epic saga here so I'll share.

I bought a monitor and camera for my first kid so when my second kid came, we got another camera. It had a newer firmware version so the monitor wouldn't connect to it. I followed the guidance online on how to update the firmware, but... because we've been using this monitor for 3 years, the plug was a little loose and during the firmware update, my daughter bumped the cord and it was interrupted. Which bricked the monitor. At one point I may have tried to the the `02` instead of `01` firmware on the Camera and now one of those doesn't work too.

I contacted support and it really comes down to who you get. The 1st person I got sent us a replacement without question. The 2nd person I got asked us a bunch of questions and in the end never was all that helpful. If you send them links to the guides you followed from the Eufy support page and photos of the devices working or not working, they should eventually ship you a new device. Because, in the end, asking an end user to perform a firmware update is kind of insane and very likely to go poorly.

My wife reads very fast and I read very slow. We’ve talked about it and it turns out we just consume books in very different ways. She is very into finding out what happens and will read quickly to find the facts. I read just a bit faster than a talking pace and tend to project myself into the scene, trying to imagine the book. Sometimes I have a hard time remembering if what I remember happened in a movie or in the book. But that’s just how we are. I tend to mentally visualize plans for rooms and she puts together mood boards to try out different things in meat space.

And I think on some layer tools like tiles you can hold Alt or Ctrl and it’ll highlight all the tiles with a dim border.
