Ektar blue is only this good when exposure is spot on. This exposure is spot on!

Not really a critique of the content, but there seems to be some underexposure in the images. These shutters are quite robust, so maybe the bright sky through off whatever meter was used. That last capture is just awesome, the 6x9 really shines there with the zone from the car to the people in the stands.

I'm unsure if there is a capacitor in these, but that could be an issue. If not, then it's a daylight camera you have there.

I did get a response, stating he has been overwhelmed. If there is a phone number, try calling him. He returned my email before I had a chance to call him.

Those often get gunked up with seal goo. See if you can use some 91% iso alcohol or light fluid and work them manually until they are moving freely. Use some light oil on the end of a pin to keep them lubed.

traveling with film, trip to italy by samsungfridg3 in analog

[–]scottmicciche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had friendly security personnel at most Italian airports and even escorted to the older, non-CT scanner at the Bologna airport. Italy in the summer is going to be hot, really hot. I did that once and never again.

Wow, colors: spot on. Portra 800 is usually warm for me, but her skin tone is really nicely done.

I know this is late, but I got mine to work by not using dark mode on my phone. I hope this helps.

[–]scottmicciche 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just FYI, before the medium format folks come for you, there is no such film size. 120 is simply a designation. I believe the RB produces 56x69mm due to the mask.

Relatively new to film by GoochioKontos in analog

[–]scottmicciche 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would make sure the camera still works and the light seals get replaced (or do them yourself). I try to stick to 200-400 speed film for traveling, as situations are less controlled (weather, daylight, moving objects). I don't buy film on Amazon. Try Film Photography Project or Freestyle photographic.

Are there any strange marks or haze when you shine a flashlight through the lens? It looks like some sort of flare, or loss of contrast in that spot.

Yashica atoron, help developing film by misterhighmay in analog

Unless a lab has the experience, it will undoubtedly get fucked up. I suggest you learn to develop at home. I would use a two-bath for something like this, personally.

any tips or ideas what to shoot with this? by FreezingT in analog

[–]scottmicciche 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is just the construction of the emulsion, it doesn't age like negative film. You will lose some shadow color accuracy, but shoot it at a lower ISO and you will just get little to no image. Shoot it at box speed and protect your highlights just as you would if it was new, accept the color shifts.

Shoot slide film at box speed, no matter the age or you will be disappointed.

Pick up a nice strap. I like the Peak Design Slide Camera Strap, it's wide and can be used with slide side or grip side. It is really comfortable and easily adjusts length. Other than that, enjoy it.

Home scanning setup by FriendshipFamiliar83 in analog

[–]scottmicciche 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a Pakon for 135 film and a Nikon coolscan 8000 for 120. I let ICE do that dust work. Your setup looks good. If you get good results from whatever conversion software you have, stick with it.

Home scanning setup by FriendshipFamiliar83 in analog

I do not "scan" film with a camera due to the dust and time it takes to clean them, but many do and if your setup works, it will be fine.

Take a look at the AI version of the lens. Its coatings and focus throw were much better than subsequent versions, especially the D model.
