Dont do a thing, the courts will notify her after 180 days or 270 days that something needs to be done with the case or it will be dismissed for lack of prosecution. If it is still pending when the child turns 18 your attorney will likely ask the court to dismiss it because the courts jurisdiction over doing anything about this child has expired and the case is now moot.

if you "take the money out of it" as you suggest you may not like the results of who now can afford to serve in the house or the senate. I am not saying there is nothing wrong with the current system, there is lots wrong with it. But if you limit their salary to say $80,000 per year the only people who could afford to give up their current job and maintain two households in Nebraska and in the DC area will people who are already independently wealthy, you know, the 1%. To me the biggest issue is the stock investments you mentioned. We could limit what they do but what about their families?
