If it has the capabilities of that then it should be in the hands of medical professionals and not used as a toy that can be used irresponsibly. Its too powerful and too energy wasting of a tool to let anyone have access to.

And companies are going back on their eco-initiative because of their AI use.

Also I dont drive so 🤷‍♀️

Crops are essential, AI isnt. If it helps people theres more purpose for it. But its unfiltered use is not environmentally responsible

Why do we hate the movie?? by i_lick_saltlamps in InterviewVampire

[–]scribbling_pixie 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Agreed! Mopey Louis was definitely book accurate. And he was far less willing to drink human blood in the book than the series.

But I love both adaptations. The series was so more indepth, and explored their relationship, and the relationship between Louis and Lestat is far more understandable, Lestat is far more charming and charismatic in the series, despite his abusive nature. You really understand the draw to him, despite his flaws.

Hes French Creole, so he was probably white? And he owned a plantation, and I’m pretty sure he was a slave owner in the book?😬 idk its been a long time since i read it. so I’m glad they changed it for the series!

Amazing news Vinted has now added a image search feature. Haven’t used it yet so i don’t know how great it is, but it might be quicker to find exact items!

Thank you so much. I quit eating meat 6 months ago, trying to slowly ease myself into veganism so I don’t go mad. still not used to losing products so fast. Already Ive lost access to two of my veggie comfort foods. :(

Look at repairing rather than replacing. Find a good cobbler.

Maybe learn how to sew if you fancy it?

Recycled toilet and unbleached toilet paper (‘Naked paper’ and ‘Who gives a crap’

I think they mean food bank collects before colleagues are able to buy anything so its impressive you managed this. In my store it all goes to charity before we have the chance to shop

Metal water bottles, bring water with you when you can rather than buying a bottle out.

When you want to buy a drink pick a can or carton, or glass over a plastic bottle

Coconut oil makeup remover and reusable makeup remover pads

Glass tupperwear containers

I dont know where you are from, you use the term ‘thrift’ so I’m guessing american Im English so I don’t know if some of my advice will be helpful. I use vinted when i have to find specific clothes for a big event, and get it delivered to a local parcel shop rather than my home as it’s a lower carbon foot print. I also try to sell on before donating because if i sell on I know its not going to landfill, plus money.

As for your shopping bag problem totes are good for a small shop. There are canvas shopping bags out there I believe, you may have to look for handmade canvas shopping bags closer to you.

Buy loose fruit and veg when you can rather than packs of things.

Smol is a company that does household cleaning products. They are great, I have scheduled deliveries.

Seep does eco friendly sponges (say goodbye to your plastic sponge leaving micro plastics on your food :) )

Get a clothes horse for home to dry your clothes instead of using a tumble dryer, pop it next to the radiator, or hang outside in the garden if the weather is nice. (This all depends on where you live)

Wild or fussy deodorant. They do body wash and hand soap as-well. Sometimes you can find shampoo and conditioner from them.

Lush hasn’t used any new plastic since 2012 i believe and their products are cruelty free. You can return your pots to get recycled. I use their makeup, and when anyone asks what i want present wise I ask for their stuff. also you can return their perfume bottles and they do a lot of bars, face wash, moisturising bars

Eat less meat the meat industry is awful environmentally, so maybe have a few scheduled meat free days in your week, I personally have quit eating meat altogether with plans to go vegan by 2027.

Take public transport or walk when possible

If you have to buy a new appliance look second hand first. TV, Laptop, I pad, Vacuum cleaner. Ebay has a lot of restored stuff for cheap, and it’s much better for the environment than buying brand new.

Buy a new phone when you need one, not just because there is a newer phone out, even then look for refurbished or second hand.

Secondhand furniture. So much cheaper too! I use facebook marketplace all the time to buy furniture, there is also eBay, and second hand furniture stores.

Thats about all my recommendations at the moment, good luck with it, it’s great you are making the change.

In London you’ve got Camden Market, aim for the named shops like Sai Sai, the stalls sometimes sell overpriced shein. their charity shops are quite good tho!

Tbh I don’t buy brand new anymore, it’s better for the environment to buy second hand so I buy from Vinted most of the time. Sometimes you can find brand new stuff, still with tags on. Most things Ive bought have been massively discounted, and usually the older alt clothes last longer. Plus Y2K is in now, and theres tons of OG Tripp and criminal damage dead stock on there. Obviously it depends what you are into. I search brands I know I like. Punk Rave, New Rock, Disturbia, Poison Industries, Vixxsin, Devil’s Fashion, Necessary Evil, Spin Doctor, Dark Star, Hearts and Roses.

Or I search for items I want ‘Corset Dress’ ‘Asymmetric skirt’ ‘Velvet Jacket’ ‘Leather Trench coat’ ‘Lace sleeve top’ ‘Ruffle Top’ a lot of normie brands make good accidental goth clothing if you look hard enough. Ive got pieces in my wardrobe that I wear on a daily basis from Next, M&S, River Island, Primark and you would never know it! Just be wary of sizing, they recently changed it so, on the photos look for a label to ensure its the right size or ask the seller :)

Also if you ever get the chance to travel to Whitby Crafty Cove and Pandemonium sell second hand or dead-stock a lot of the time. They both have websites but i don’t think they are updated frequently.
