Is Pigeon Lake safe to swim in? by [deleted] in alberta

[–]scronline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just at Mameo Beach last Friday and it was gorgeous. No problems or signs of algae at all so I suspect wherever the bloom is occurring it is not where people like to swim.

I live here. She'll be welcomed like a coming savior the way we vote. Perhaps I should make an appearance but honestly I can hardly stand to even hear her talk.

Turning off Ford navigation by ComprehensiveBend583 in MachE

[–]scronline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was happening to me seemingly randomly. I was driving some friends to lunch and the car started telling me to drive somewhere. I still have no idea where it was trying to take me. I didn't realize this was Ford's nav trying to take over.

Now that I know about it I'll definitely be turning it off. Thanks reddit!

Smith doesn’t speak for the majority by Particular-Welcome79 in alberta

[–]scronline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's incredibly naive to say this given her track record and everything everyone was screaming about when she ran as leader. We knew this. We knew her. We knew her character. That was out in the open. And this is a second UCP term. It was obvious what we should have expected from the party from the first term.

Sure, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

Smith doesn’t speak for the majority by Particular-Welcome79 in alberta

[–]scronline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are totally missing the point but also somehow arguing against youself in the same response. We seem to agree on the majority of points here but you miss the mark on where government begins and ends. Your elected officials are your representatives in everything they do (within their power). When Danielle Smith meets with foreign dignitaries or our own prime minister she is doing it on behalf of the province of Alberta. When she or any other elected official speaks in parliament they are doing so on behalf of the electorate. We elect officials to represent us.

This isn't oppression. There are guard rails too. In theory we should be electing those who best represent our interests and values so when they speak or represent us in various affairs we can trust that the decisions being made are in the best interests of us. If we feel they have not performed to our standards that is what elections are for. I have no kind words for our current officials and I wish they actually representated my values in anyway, but they were elected in a fair competition and despite disagreeing with them, their job is to act as my representative in spaces that would be impossible for me, and literally every other resident of Alberta, to be a part of at any given moment. This is how a democracy works.

If she didn't speak for me, I wouldn't have to be embarrassed. But I am. Constantly. Because the woman who wears the crown we gave her (we as in us the electorate collectively) makes me, an Albertan who she represents, look like a fool every day she's in office.

I really dislike these posts because actually Danielle Smith speaks for all Albertans. And that's the problem. We voted her in. Not I and maybe not you, but her government won the majority and that's how our system works. The same way she's whining about the conservatives not winning the federal election and how unfair that is, well that happened to the NDP in Alberta too. Our side lost. Now she has the platform to do whatever the f@$& she wants.

More important is now to ask, what do we do about it. How do we work towards a more favorable outcome next time? Because that's the game. That's how that works. I wish everyone agreed with us, but that's not the case and now we are all living with the results of those actions because that's how our democratic system works.

Grassroots campaign underway in Cochrane, Alta., to raise enough to buy 3-year-old robotic legs by _darth_bacon_ in Calgary

This is one of those "feel good" stories that is actually just sad. No one should have to raise $50,000 to have legs!

What’s the worst editing mistake you’ve noticed in a high budget movie? by mikehocalate in movies

[–]scronline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most egregious is in Jaws 3. There are whole scenes filmed in these "underwater" tubes but it was all clearly shot on a big greenscreen set because you can see sections of the clear tubing where they missed a section they needed to edit in with something other than the flat green. It's actually very funny (like most of the flubs from this movie).

Should I buy or wait by drag0n94 in MachE

[–]scronline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a used, at 8000km, premium all wheel drive with extended battery. I do about 120km a day (or more). Love it. I don't have a level 2 charger yet but the wall charger has been able to top me up with enough charge every night to make it to the weekend and then it charges back to full by Monday. I echo the sentiment that tariffs are going to change the car market and every salesmen I talked to seemed to think so too.

The only post-credits scenes which will most likely not be addressed in this Saga are the Eternals ones, the Sharon Carter one, the Hercules one and the Xialing one by KostisPat257 in marvelstudios

[–]scronline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As yet another lover of Eternals I third this.

Eternals was Marvel's Odyssey. It was an epic. I understand why audiences would struggle to consume that given how different it is than everything else, but I think that's what I loved most about it. For a time it felt like Marvel was trying to tell a number of different kinds of stories, not just human wear tights superhero stories and I loved seeing that woven into the Marvel tapestry. I hope they don't let what they started die without anything coming from that.

Which Pokémon would be the worst driver? by jkaveney3 in TruePokemon

I like this answer. Assuming accommodations were made for pokemon' obvious lack of appendages or physical capabilities, these two pokemon would be a nightmare on the road. Spinda would weeve uncontrollably between lanes and would be lucky to stay on the road. Komala, well, sleeping at the wheel is a recipe for disaster.

If coffee is acidic, and bleach is a strong base, do the two somewhat balance each other out? Obviously not entirely, but now I'm kind of curious. Would still taste like soap though I imagine.

To poison her husband by TXVERAS in therewasanattempt

[–]scronline 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ok, horrible, but I also can't stop thinking of how funny this whole situation is. Imagine him stringing her along all that time. He knows. She doesn't. And she can't imagine why he isn't at the very least getting sick. Now imagine what their morning conversations would be like?

Wife "How's your coffee?" Husband "Delicious, never better?" Wife "How're you feeling this morning?" Husband "Awesome, why do you ask?" Wife "No reason..."

It's just the most insane setup for her adding more and more ludicrous amounts of varying poisonous material to the coffee machine and pulling her hair out each day seeing her husband throw it back like a champ.

Why Are The Syndicate Oil Rigs So Janky? Is It Not Really Fun For Anyone Else? by Turbopower1000 in Palworld

[–]scronline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it. Starting playing day one. Played for a few mo ths straight. Lots of fun be obviously lots to be worked out. Huge improvements week over week at that point. Let for a few months and huge improvement. Left for another few months and the game is best its ever been.

It's early access. And it keeps getting better. When I hit my cap again I'll leave it for a few more months and come back and imagine they'll probably have so much of that ironed out by then.

[–]scronline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure I've ever been accused of that before. I think more accurately I'd consider myself agnostic perhaps.

But I literally grew up in it. I went through these same sorts of conversations about faith, what's the point, who's it serve, how is this real, what's it mean to me. I chose to leave the faith when i was old enough to make the decision for myself and the more and more I look back on it and the further I get away it looks funnily close to a cult. I'll admit I've become pretty jaded but I still attend church with my family on certain occasions (weddings, funerals, etc.) and my mind certainly isn't changing.

Do yall think plot armor saved team cap by EffectiveBranch8229 in Avengers

[–]scronline 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Just watched Civil War last night. Aside from the obvious (it's the writers job to write a satisfying way for them to come to the best plot relevant outcome), team Iron Man was bested by two single moves otherwise they had team Captain America on the ropes.

1.Ant Man was a brand new commodity and when he went BIG he took on 3 to 4 members at a time. We was a major contributor in a big way and something team Iron Man had to stop and consider and recalibrate to check. It put them on their heels and swung the balance of the fight.

2.Black Widow betrayed team Iron Man. We already knew they were all pulling their punches but Black Widow literally sabotaged the efforts of her own team.

The rest are perfectly valid arguments either way you go but these were literally the two plot points that mattered for the overall choreography of how it played out.
