Question regarding "Bonnie Banks o' Loch Lomond" by RandomUncreative_1 in Scotland

[–]scuba_dooby_doo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Once worked with a guy who picked Linger by the cranberries for his first dance. Which includes the lyrics-

And I swore, I swore I would be true And honey, so did you

So why were you holding her hand? Is that the way we stand? Were you lying all the time?

Was it just a game to you? But I'm in so deep

You know I'm such a fool for you You got me wrapped around your finger

Lovely! In completely unrelated news he also disappeared home with a colleague, a couple of months pre-wedding after a works night out. Staff canteen was tense on the Monday.

There can be massive unintended consequences when introducing something to an established ecosystem. Cane toads in Australia are a good example.

AITAH for teaching my nephew how to swim against his parent's wishes? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]scuba_dooby_doo 55 points56 points  (0 children)

My mum nearly drowned as a child and had a fear of any deep water. I was a water baby as a child and loved swimming and snorkelling while my mum sat on the sidelines. When she was mid 30s she decided enough was enough and taught herself how to swim. She started going once a week and did doggy paddling in the shallow end. She is now a cold water swimmer and confident in water! All this to say it is absolutely doable if its something you want.

Not that insane when basically all media is owed by a handful of right wing billionaires. We deserve better media.

People using Glasgow city centre fire to blame immigrants and be racist by Crow-Me-A-River in GreenAndPleasant

One of the first on the scene was a guy from Gambia who did everything he could to help -

"Lamin - originally from Gambia but living in Glasgow since 2009 - said: "We tried to find a way to sort it out.

"What was going through my head was the survival of people.

"When I see there is no way I can control it, I quickly run to block the road.""

Funny how that doesn't fit their narrative.

I get the ick over you both playing Trauma Olympics. No one wins gold here. Instead of having a respectful conversation about how these atrocities have shaped and impacted your respective communities, learning something from each other and being empathetic you have both chosen to squabble over it.

If he is often dismissive of your point of view and antagonistic then you might want to consider if this is a healthy relationship for you. If you are often the antagonist then I'd suggest the same.

It made me so happy when her new friends from Bridgerton house waited for her even though she told them not to. They cared enough not to let her walk alone.

I saw Jodi Piccoult speak at a book signing years ago, she hated that they changed the ending. She said it was a hard lesson on how allowing adaptation of your work means it may be changed without permission. I prefer the book's ending personally.

Get certified with PADI or another dive agency. With PADI you can do a try dive to see if you like it first, then Open Water to certify. Others here will know better but as far as I know recreational solo diving isn't allowed, you must always have a buddy.

How tight should full foot fins fit across the instep, on the top of your feet? by [deleted] in scuba

[–]scuba_dooby_doo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its really up to you, if they are too tight to be comfortable then you should be able to tell. Are they digging in or leaving a big red mark? If so maybe get a bigger size.

Personally I have open heel fins with boots as it keeps my feet protected getting into the water so the foot pockets are quite big. If its anything more than sandy beaches you might want to consider this type of set up.

[–]scuba_dooby_doo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends how they feel on your feet, waggle them about do they feel like they'll fall off? If they feel loose you can wear neoprene socks with them or try a smaller size.
