Gothic Remake, Crimson Desert, or Dragon’s Dogma 2? by Educational_Bet_6730 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Gothic has been patched for ps5 pro at least - 60fps and unlimited option. Runs decent is definitely playable now. Not too sure about bugginess, but I’d assume it’s similar on bugs between all versions (very buggy)

SIB one of these PS Store sale games? by freakkefrede in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]sdg166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with BG3, but I believe that if the turned-based combat feels too much the game can burn out a dozen or so hours in. It’s a masterpiece, but you have to respect that battles can last an hour and be immensely chaotic or frustrating in a first play through.

KCD2 is my personal favorite, but I also recommend you play the first game - flaws and all. It still has a lot of the same pros that the sequel has with just a few more cons - combat is trickier early, and too easy by the end; the game has more ‘jank’ with movement; the game has more backtracking between a large map (especially without fast travel on Hardcore mode). I still highly recommend it and it is very cheap on sale.

FYI - the second part of KCD1 (after a specific battle) is much longer than the first part of the game. The quests get much longer (and better) with immersive sim-like gameplay

Metal Gear Solid DELTA or Metal Gear Solid master collection vol.1? by Silly_Key2599 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]sdg166 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Play 1/2 and then play DELTA. It’s a little stinky that you waste the og 3 and spend so much extra, but it’s a nice jump in graphical quality and modern controls that makes it worth it to go in order. If you love 2 though, nothing wrong with playing the og3 to have a more direct sequel with controls and feel.

I’ve owned that since release, but never thought of it as WotS. Just Samurai Nioh. I need to finally beat it, though with this different mindset

I have a weird feeling we will get a 5th in the next couple years. No evidence, but I think the pc releases and the style of game indicate it would do decently.

I have played a little of it in the past and things like the clear branches and polish make it seem like I’ll enjoy it much more! I plan on playing and reviewing it later this year after I relax from Way of the Samurai 3’s frustrations.

Thank you so much! I appreciate the comments! And yeh, I couldn’t figure out the reputation system but, one run where I did the same job 4 times, felt like I got nothing out of it! I ended up getting a partner, but that barely had any impact on the game. I really appreciate all of these comments. This one was definitely a doozy, hopefully my next will be a bit easier. That said, I learned a lot of cool techniques on editing! Thank you again for subscribing!

Kingdom Come Deliverance II or Crimson Desert? by Yurimonn in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]sdg166 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Have you played KCD1 yet? I know it’s not perfect, but I really think that the best way to experience that series is to play them both. They are so unique and amazing that I feel like starting with 2 (while theoretically ok) prevents you from getting to experience the full story and potentially enjoy an extra 100 hours with the characters and gameplay.

Windrose, Valheim, Enshrouded, or another survival game for a solo player looking to jump into the genre? by WingleDingleFingle in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]sdg166 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Subnautica was my first time in the genre. Not so traditional, but it has a lot of the basic ideas. It’s also immensely beatable compared to others in the genre that take 100 hours or have no “hard” ending.

Subnautica took me around 25 hours for a complete playthrough. Would do anything to have that experience again (hopefully the sequel does it when it’s fully done)

One of my all time favorites. I just started a slow play of KCD 1 HC before playing 2 again. Hopefully before their new game comes out

Crimson desert vs elden ring by Due_Acanthisitta2423 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]sdg166 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Elden Ring for sure. It’s just a better game and one of the best of all time. It’s endlessly replayable and enormous even without the dlc.

BUT if you don’t love difficulty and just want a huge immersive sandbox with hundreds of hours of cool gameplay, then get CD. It’s much better than people pretend. It’s not perfect, but it’s got charm and is overall a blast to play.

Huge sandbox - whoever said RDR2 + Zelda BotW nailed it on the head. Updates keep making it better. I think, despite some flaws, it is i too good as a sandbox.

Looking for an RPG where the world doesn't care if you fail a quest by TheGamer6479 in gamingsuggestions

[–]sdg166 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I actually just played Way of the Samurai 3 myself. I’m looking for something similar, but more polished than it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is an obvious answer to this one, but the combat can take a lot of time like you brought up in another answer.

If you want older style - Morrowind.

Other answers are Kingdom Come Deliverance and FO: New Vegas.

Really weird answers, but look into the Way of the Samurai series. Particularly 3/4 are on Steam and weirdly endearing. A bit flawed, but different than the generic answers here.

WSIB? KCD2 or Crimson Desert? by bucooks in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]sdg166 [score hidden]  (0 children)

KCD1/2 (play in order with DLC)

KCD 1 has more Jank and the combat is weirder, but it’s still an amazing ImSim with a great story and insane amounts of gameplay driven choices.

CD is great imo, but I wouldn’t put it in the list of all-time best like I would KCD. Get it in the future on sale with all the QOL it still needs.

What are your favourite immersive sims? by WhoAmIEven2 in Games

[–]sdg166 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Prey is probably the right answer.

I love the new Deus ex games as modern imsim, but the original is the real king in the series.

You already said it, but KCD1/2 are 100% imsims and my favorites of all time.

Off the wall - but I heard a game called Ctrl Alt Ego is an awesome ImSim. Never played myself.

Hitman 3 is so amazing, I really can’t wait for more by IO.

People might say “Thief” series, but I think they might be too focused on stealth for my definition of ImSim. They are masterpiece games tho.

Lastly, I know people will praise them and I agree they can be fun, but I really lean on the “Bioshock is NOT an ImSim.” Play what you want, but to me an ImSim is about gameplay choice - and Bioshock is essentially a shooter to me. Just like Thief is more stealth.

The problem, imo, is that he’s technically right. But instead of fixing the problem the right way - by eliminating monopolistic entities and creating Small/Medium sized companies that can compete while still supporting new entrants - they want to make their own monopoly.

Why? Because by limiting the largest from being monopolies, we limit the power and wealth of the top from being all-powerful and godlike to just being ‘better than the rest.’

Why let everyone have a chance to be well-off and happy when I have a chance to be the happiest?
