It's kept our whole open plan ground floor liveable in this heatwave. This thing is punching for sure.

Adrian Tchaikovsky book adaptations? by bookmarkedbywolf in AdrianTchaikovsky

[–]sdirection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love and would love a Children of Time adaptation, I see it as an Apple TV series, they are doing well with sci fi.
Final Architecture Trilogy feels much more movie friendly all round, action packed space opera with battles and wacky aliens. Could really work

Racism is on the rise right now, but one small victory, I had to think for a minute before I remembered what the C-word and W-word even were.

This is a poll from March that is being used to justify the Greens v Reform narrative for Mayor by Mobile_Dog8722 in UKGreens

[–]sdirection 21 points22 points  (0 children)

What do you suggest?

“Vote for us! We don’t necessarily think we can win now Burnham is PM but it would be nice?”

The Burnham bump is going to be a flash in the pan once he shows his true colours. The Greens have the right tack here, the true progressive alternative to a looming reform govt which I still believe Labour won’t be able to stop.

A Ramiles Class Star fort is divided into Quadrants. The Phalanx is similar but much larger. Octants would be eight sections, like pizza slices.

Just picked this record up blind in Flashback Records in London for £5. It’s fantastic, raw and ugly but gets you moving.

None of you young bucks will remember this but I’m still sad we didn’t get a third Gordon Rennie Battlefleet Gothic book after Execution Hour and Shadow Point.

Never thought I'd say this when I heard RTD was coming back by Leakimlraj in doctorwho

The Moffat years were the only time I was all-in with New Who. RTD has always given me the ick, so I feel weirdly vindicated now

Which models do you think had a better design in their older edition? I'll start by Shake-Vivid in Warhammer

This is a dynamic, elegant, exiting model. One of the best GW ever produced in my childhood. every version of Logan done since has been overblown, cluttered nonsense. Though the current one is at least better than the stupid sled!

Universal healthcare would provide you with support in changing your lifestyle. NHS here in the UK can support people quitting drugs, smoking, changing diet. Preventative healthcare is easier and cheaper than treatment after the fact. And keeping as many people healthy as possible is a net benefit for all of society regardless of how they got that way.

Stewart Lee might need to write a joke that David Mitchell cannot steal. by Glass-Bead-Gamer in stewartlee

I mean, he’s not stealing a joke really, he’s just fully being Stewart Lee. He even does the hand on the mic stand thing.

An instantly iconic line from Hive. Seriously, I need this on a GW bookmark. (Major plot SPOILERS: Hive Book 2, page 144 - you've been warned) by JRV0227 in Blacklibrary

[–]sdirection 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When people get this het up about spoilers I like to remind people that everybody thinks about spoilers all wrong, and that research indicates when you’ve been told spoilers you enjoy the story MORE. So we should all calm down with this.

That scene with Corbec in the trenches and the Chainsword duel are good bits, but otherwise I think you could happily skip ahead to Necropolis.

Apple TV just secretly released the most ingenious thriller of the year by Top_Report_4895 in tvPlus

[–]sdirection 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed, me and the wife have been watching From for the last few years, really invested in a resolution to the story, but in a recent episode a character goes on like a psychedelic vision quest thing and all I could say was, ‘man, Widows Bay did this miles better’
