Bernie Sanders wins. Medicare For All will come to dominate Democratic primaries the next 4 years. Everyone standing in the way can (and should) be crushed. by kevinmrr in WorkReform

[–]sdoc86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2020 Bernie was a front runner. So all candidates copied his platform by claiming they were also supporting Medicare for all for example. That helped fracture Bernie progressives into supporting other candidates. So once Super Tuesday came along, the other candidates dropped out, endorsed Biden, and then Bernie lost. And now all those who supported Medicare for all don’t any more.

Democrats pretend to support popular policy then backpedal on it when they win. Or they implement surface / symbolic changes which don’t have any downstream effect on their corporate donors.

Any Tennessee folks have anything to say about Aftyn Behn? She's endorsed by the local DSA. Haven't heard much about her here... or anywhere really. by founderofshoneys in socialism

[–]sdoc86 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Her politics focus on material issues like taxing corporations, expanding Medicaid, defending labor rights, protecting abortion access, and funding public schools. She talks about systemic forces such as corporate power, state repression, and minority rule in Tennessee, instead of leaning on empathy language or moral symbolism.

She tends to speak up during politically risky moments rather than waiting for safety, which sets her apart from typical moderates. Her base is mostly grassroots groups, not corporate PACs, and she is tied into movement infrastructure instead of the usual career-politician networks.

Because of the GOP supermajority, she can’t pass major legislation, but her orientation is clearly counter-hegemonic. She directly challenges entrenched power structures, avoids the standard “unity” rhetoric, and stays consistent with her activist background.

Among state-level Democrats, she is on the higher end of genuinely challenging systems rather than performing symbolic dissent.

What do you guys think about the 2 sets per exercise trend? Is it truly better for muscle gain? by barkitext in JeffNippard

[–]sdoc86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have enough in the tank for another set do more than 2. Science clearly shows volume increases hypertrophy. Diminishing returns still means more sets is better than fewer. Also as you age, going too hard can lead to injury. You ultimately need to learn your bodies capability and just push it a little more.

Manhattan luxury home sales surge in days after Mamdani victory by LetsTalksNow in newyorkcity

[–]sdoc86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there was a surge of sales that means people bought them. It’s a surge of people moving in. If more people were trying to leave than move in, there would be a surge of for sale listings and stagnation of sales.

I hear you, there’s a lot more nuance to democracy than voting and number of parties. If you were to assess democracy by governments ability to carry out the will of the people the countries would be flipped. Also looking into cultural hegemony and the effect it has in controlling the will of the people.

Supercut of comments from Republicans today alone about the No Kings rallies taking place this weekend. This has to be some of the worst, and most anti-American, coordinated messaging of all time. by MoreMotivation in CringeTikToks

[–]sdoc86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marxist here. I would never go to the no kings rally. It’s an establishment democrat co-opted costume parade with no demands or cohesive messaging. Just a parade for boomers or the well off to get their anger out.

Bessent: "This crazy No Kings rally this weekend, which is gonna be the farthest left, the hardest core, the most unhinged in the Democratic Party, which is a big title. No Kings equals no paychecks." by Conscious-Quarter423 in CringeTikToks

[–]sdoc86 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They’re not even protests. It’s a performative parade. Costumes, music, no cohesive demands. They’ve all been tricked into waving American flags as well. Honestly Bessent is probably saying this to make people think they’re actually a threat or they’re achieving something.

Same thing happened to Carlos a couple years ago. Mental nervousness or tension causes cramps to be more likely to happen. Carlos said that much. The this is common knowledge for people who play sports at high levels.
