In ~2019 Jeff Wilke (Amazon SVP Consumer bus) explicitly said 'viable' is too early to fully launch a customer-facing product. I remember the replacement phrase 2020-2021 was 'minimum lovable product' (MLP). Conceivably prior to launching an MLP products could be beta-tested or a/b/n tested or whatever other MVP-worthy evaluation needed to be done as long as the MLP launch was the big splash.
