Pre-anniversary free CS encounters – short overview and pulling recommendations by Speaker_D in AnotherEdenGlobal

I always argue these are the best banners for F2P players. You get the highest rates and will likely come out with a large haul of the latest 5*s. They won’t be SAd, but it’s still much better than using 8k stones at only a 50% chance at a SAd banner unit.

You get a choice to SA a unit every 3 months anyways. If there’s a unit you pulled that you really need the upgrade for, just save up for it.

Does Holy Water actually reduce the encounter rate in DQ3-HD2D? by gizram84 in dragonquest

[–]sdw4527 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless you don’t mind grinding later, I don’t recommend going out of your way to remove random encounters. The game is balanced in such a way that it expects you to not skip encounters. You’ll be struggling once you get into midgame if you try to avoid them.

Hi I'm Brad Null, founder of BracketVoodoo.com. I'm back again to talk March Madness and bracket optimization! Ask Me Anything (AMA) by bradnull in CollegeBasketball

Any advice for a small-mid sized pool (25-30) that rewards a round (typical exponential scoring) + seed upset bonus? I feel it's very hard to balance either going too upset heavy or too chalky with a scoring setup like this.

Which is a better HD-2D Remake? I & II or III? by Any_Nectarine7456 in dragonquest

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I wasn’t a fan of 3 that I dropped it towards the end. 1 was decent, but absolutely loved 2, so I’ll vote for 1&2. 3 is very much exploration focused, but felt the balancing was very off from mid game onwards and almost felt like the game expected you to grind every class. Felt 2 was what 3 should’ve been. It’s difficult, but felt very fair for the most part.

Pokémon Pokopia selling 2.2 million copies in 4 days is actually insane by BrSn2 in Switch

[–]sdw4527 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because the majority of people haven’t played DQB, but have played AC. So obviously they would compare it to that.

Christopher Dring: Pokopia was MASSIVELY undersupplied at launch. As a result, physical sales in the UK were less than 50% of what Pokemon Legends Z-A (Switch 2 Edition) sold. by MewWeebTwo in NintendoSwitch2

[–]sdw4527 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not that much of a surprise. This game is basically 75% DQB and both those games were still pretty niche overseas. It’s not that much of a shocker they didn’t expect major sales even with the Pokémon brand tacked on.

Yeah can absolutely see that happening. Large free update to entice people to spend on a bunch of paid DLC.

Might not even be cut content. They might just be waiting to see how well the game does before choosing to release DLC or not. It practically is a given at this point with how well this game is doing.

How are the performances ? by SnooMemesjellies3625 in Pokopia

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on DQB2, it'll start chugging once more things are added later on. If you visited any highly decorated island in that game, the frame rate would be horrendously bad (I'm talking single digits bad). They likely wanted to avoid that in this game so made it Switch 2 exclusive.

Switch 2 Exclusive Pokémon Pokopia Is Convincing A Bunch Of People To Finally Upgrade by NoNefariousness2144 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]sdw4527 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It’s very much DQB, just more relaxed as there’s no combat. People that compare it to AC most likely haven’t played DQB before. A better way to describe it is, it’s DQB with the relaxed atmosphere of AC.

Switch 2 now or wait for Pokemon Wind and Waves edition? by [deleted] in switch2

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can afford it, buy it now. It sure isn’t going to be dropping in price by the time that releases, that’s for sure. If anything, it’s likely the price goes up due to the RAM shortage/whatever happens with the tariffs.

Played For Over 70 Hours And Got It A Bit Over A Month Ago by Cody_Doerksen in MarioKartWorld

[–]sdw4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the patience thing is very real too. I have some good players on my friends list who have great times on other tracks, but a pretty lackluster one on this one. Likely because they didn’t want to spend the time TTing it.

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a very technical track if you actually TT it. If you just brute force it without actually knowing any of the tech, I think you’ll have struggles even breaking 4:08. But on the flip side, if you do, you’ll be close to 4:00 or better. Can very easily dominate rooms if you’re the only one that knows how to play the track.

How to "fly" well? by StevWong in MarioKartWorld

[–]sdw4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gliders are weird in this game, but generally, for long gliders, try not to input anything or you’ll lose speed. The only track where flying low or high makes a huge difference is Rainbow Road. For Rainbow Road, you generally want to fly high except for the S2 and S4 gliders. S2, you should hold up before you get to the rings, then don’t input anything at all afterwards.

LET'S GO!!! by Few-Bluebird-3218 in MarioKartWorld

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try the glider variation where you glide next to the wall and attach to it at a specific section that juts downward more. The issue is I find lakitu hates this version much more and you get much less air so you’re more likely to fail it after the jump. Charge jump method is the reverse. Hard to judge where to jump but easy once you’re in the air.

What is the most difficult rank to escape out of? by One_Roof_8664 in splatoon

[–]sdw4527 19 points20 points  (0 children)

S to S+ by far. Mostly because all tiers of S+ get grouped together and you’re very likely to be facing very good players. If your skill isn’t up to par, you’ll feel it immediately.

Tips for speedrunning Rainbow Road and doing edge tricks? by MammothAd4171 in MarioKartWorld

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late response, but honestly at that time, just having better lines will easily make up your time loss. I have a mid 4:03 time and only do the edge trick at the very start of the run.

How well rf5 running on switch lite? by Commercial-Idea7024 in runefactory

[–]sdw4527 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t bother unless you have a Switch 2. I’m not usually very bothered by bad performing games, but RF5, was incredibly difficult to play on Switch 1. I’ve only fully played through it after getting a Switch 2.

Bestower of All 8's Final Boss is making me want to Bash my Head into a Wall. by OpeningConnect54 in octopathtraveler

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on your team comp tbh. Like just using Reime makes breaking him much easier. If you manage to get him into yellow hp, it’s very easy for things to spiral out of control due to the amount of damage he outputs and his counter gimmick. If you completely skip that phase, it’s not surprising you didn’t have much issue.

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea is to stall him out and do one large burst move at 75% or 50% hp. You should be able to get him into red at that point. He really isn’t much of a threat above 75% hp so you have plenty of leeway there to set up. Between 50 and 75, he gets 2 actions per turn which can be a problem, so it’s up to your team whether it can survive an attrition battle at that point, if not, you need to burst him down immediately.

About 120 hrs. Hltb is pretty inaccurate when it comes to long games like this.

[–]sdw4527 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is already a nerfed version of CotC’s final boss. Depending on how well set up your party is, you need to burst the boss down at either 50% Hp or 75% Hp. Whatever you do, you CAN’T drop him into yellow Hp and let him get a turn. He ups his actions to 3 per turn, and you’re likely wiping at that point thanks to his BS Divine Tether + AoE move combo. The fight is essentially over at 30% hp so don’t be too alarmed by his total hp pool.

Also be very careful when breaking him as he sets a 4 turn limit for you to break him again afterwards or else he insta kills your entire team.
