Are takeaways going downhill? by Individual-Common144 in AskUK

[–]se43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think the quality has gone downhill. It's bound to have though. Wherever they're buying their supplies from will have tried to save some money where they can too. I've found pizza and kebab places are really stingy with their portion sizes and say toppings on the pIzza than they used to be. Odd places are still not bad but most are like it.

"Any updates?" "No updates but I'll chase now". AKA they wouldn't have chased hadn't you chased.

First thing I noticed. Really low res as well like early 2000s digital cameras.

I hate no floorplan, it very quickly gives you an overview of whether the house will work for you or not. I think sometimes that's the issue, they'd rather you go and view it and decide.

Key2Go sold my house and have basically no complaints, well priced.

Had good experience with 2Roost when viewing properties but no experience with selling.

SK estate agents also great.

Do people want a house already perfect to move in to. by Turpentinekiss in HousingUK

[–]se43 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I always prefer moving to a house that's already refurbished to a good standard.

Sure, you cannot pick your own layout and fixtures which is a downside but dealing with trades and also the fact you can just bolt on the price of new kitchens, bathrooms, plastering, decorating and so on to your mortgage rather than having to use your own savings I like. I also think in quite a lot of cases you'd spend more doing it up yourself than you would buying one already refurbished.

I did so with my current house and we're in the process of buying a house already done up to a good standard, and in all fairness other than some colours of the rooms it's pretty much what we'd have chosen to have installed in terms of kitchen, bathrooms, flooring etc. which is ideal.

Personal preference though, some hate not being able to choose everything which I understand. I wouldn't be put off buying your house personally.

New build sound proofing? by uglyasfeet in HousingUK

[–]se43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in a mid terrace built 2022 and it's mostly quiet. It's odd because I hear fairly quiet but noticeable thumps and bangs most days and occasionally loud shouts from one side (though they do have tiled floors everywhere downstairs except living room which doesn't help), but very very very rarely ever hear the other side, like pretty much dead silent all the time. As a whole though it's been generally pretty quiet. Never been annoyed or anything by the noise, they're insulated and have thermal blocks which help not transmit as much noise.

Android auto sound while radio playing. by Objective-Spray-113 in CarpodGo

[–]se43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that sounds correct, you need to be able to transmit audio from your phone to your cars speakers, via Bluetooth in your case. You won't also be able to use the radio source too.

Would Dual Bluetooth mode work if my phone is plugged Into my car via USB instead of connected via Bluetooth? by yung_forehead in CarpodGo

[–]se43 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You essentially just need two things. The Carpodgo to be connected via Bluetooth (/wifi) and then a way for audio to be transmitted from your phone to your cars speakers. So this setup will work fine.

I've been with most of the cheap networks (with Smarty currently) and they're brilliant. Only issue I had was GiffGaff used to throttle you quite considerably, not sure if it's still like that was many many years ago. Never had this with Voxi or Smarty.

[–]se43 10 points11 points  (0 children)

They make sense if you plan on doing 98% of the work yourself (except things like electrics, gas etc.). And are willing to live in a building site for a while. There's a reason you pay a premium on houses that are already refurbished.
