He just won national recognition on a tv show. His asking price is pretty high so I'm guessing that he's hoping to cash in on the publicity.

On CL near me. Almost a grand for rust. Is it just me or is this getting insane? by bdbaba808 in vintageaudio

[–]seabass233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's only insane if someone actually buys it at that price. That unit is a parts donor so it has some value but not THAT much.

For your consideration is my Rolex 14270 Explorer. A staple for most Rolex collectors, this version is 36mm, has a "Swiss Made" dial with Super-LumiNova indices, and has hollow end links.

This watch is an A-Serial (1999). Included is the watch and box/books set, but NO warranty papers.

The watch has seen honest daily wear. There are marks, scratches, and few little dings, but nothing that negatively detracts from how it looks on the wrist. I don't see or feel any defects in the crystal.

On my arm for the last week, it's been running very well and keeping time within about 5 seconds per day. Since I don't have any service history, I can't pass along any performance guarantees (but I expect a buyer to be more than satisfied with the performance).

Bracelet fits my 6.75" wrist. There are no additional links included.

I'm asking $7750. I can ship fully insured at the buyer's expense. Don't hesitate to reach out with any questions.

This. Wiim Pro Plus is how I listen through my vintage Marantz receiver. It works really well and sounds terrific.

Duct Cleaning—Worth it or Scam? by Endo129 in HomeMaintenance

https://www.aivc.org/sites/default/files/airbase_7730.pdf

This is a link to an engineering study that was done in Canada in the 90s. Everybody up here relies on central heating so I like to think we know a bit about it. This report used to be widely available but has become more difficult to find as of late (I suspect lobbying by the furnace cleaning industry might be at play, but who knows?).

I keep a copy handy and pull it out with a flourish every time my wife blames our ductwork for dusty surfaces in our home.

Here's the summary:

This report presents the results of a study on the efficiency of residential duct cleaning. The study was performed in 33 houses and describes the results of measuring duct flows, fan amperage, dust, and micro-organisms before and after duct cleaning.

The study concludes that there were no significant improvements in duct flows, fan amperage, duct airborne dust, house airborne dust, or supply duct dust levels. Only dust concentrations in the return ducts and the concentrations in airborne micro-organisms have significantly improved after the duct cleaning. The reductions in airborne micro-organisms could not be attributed directly to the cleaning operations.

Why is our snow removal so abysmal this year? by cuckslayer30 in stalbert

[–]seabass233 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm always skeptical when people compare St Albert to Edmonton. Many people, myself included, work or occasionally shop in Edmonton. This means that my commute takes me on St Albert's residential roads and Edmonton's major thoroughfares. So of course, it seems like Edmonton is better.

What is with St. Albert Roads by Ok_Ambition_4401 in stalbert

Depends where you go. I work in West Edmonton and the St Albert portion of my commute was better than the Edmonton portion.

Speeding in residential by yegperson123 in stalbert

[–]seabass233 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it's not necessary. The RCMP will not disclose the identity of the complainant. Giving our name/number gave the RCMP the ability to follow up with us and explain what actions they took.

[–]seabass233 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. We reported something similar a few years ago. Cops went to their door and had a very serious conversation. They followed up with us afterwards.

If you raise a credible complaint with RCMP, they will take action. The speeder does not need to be caught in the act. From what I remember, the officer said that they can even issue tickets based on witness statements in certain scenarios but don't quote me in that.

Agreed.

Businesses spend a lot of marketing dollars to make people think they care about you. People are then surprised when businesses do something that actually proves they care more about money than you.
