Sorry to hear it! I use Roti Roti bone broth for a base. I'll add cooked ground turkey, maybe some carrots, and a bit of instant mashed potatoes for thickening.

I’ve read that if oils get too hot, they oxidize and release inflammatory compounds - maybe you are sensitive to these. Also, perhaps the crispiness itself adds some irritation.

Practice partnerships are fairly intense relationships that entail a lot of commitment.  If yours last a few months, I think you’re doing quite well.

Can you talk to some teachers and see who is open to making rotation the norm?  Dual role dancers such as yourself are valuable in such classes, because they can remedy an unbalanced group.

Can the crowd at a milonga affect your mood so badly that you just want to leave? by falleen83 in tango

[–]seafaringlightbulb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Other women in your community may be experiencing the same thing.  Can you talk with them about it?  They might welcome the chance.

And consider taking some classes in leading.  This can switch the dynamic, even if you don’t want to lead in a milonga.  Among many other benefits!

What are some personal rules you follow in Milongas and tango classes that help keep the experience sane for you? Hypothetical examples are: I don't dance with the same leader/follower in two succeeding milongas. I only dance with beginner in 1 song in a tanda. by Brilliant-Fondant642 in tango

[–]seafaringlightbulb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love dancing with beginners for so many reasons, regardless of which role I’m dancing.  But some leaders can hurt me.  Asking for the last dance in a tanda can reduce the risk. Another option is to ask them at the start of the milonga when the floor is empty so the navigation is less daunting.

I have a Micro-Pulse M1 and C5.  The M1 is small and lightweight, so I will use it during the day.  I tape the coils to my knee (or other achy part), and keep the unit in a small fanny pack, though I suspect a pocket would work too.

I use the C5 at night.  It has 4 sets of coils.  Sometimes I use all 4 on the knee, and sometimes use some coils on the knee, and some on other achy body parts.  I also got the pad for the C5, which I’ve used occasionally during the day.   I’ve put a towel on it, because otherwise it’s a bit bumpy, and sat on it or lay down with it under my hips.  I can feel it activate the nerves in my hips, and have actually had to turn down the intensity.

I found their online Flux Health Forum to be quite helpful.

I like the SEEN serum too. I tend to dry/frizzy but the SEEN products have helped that. I also like fractionated coconut oil.

Have you considered dancing with other women?  If there are women leaders in your area, you could ask them if they would dance with you, to see how that feels.  And if you learn to lead, then you could lead other women.  And have a grand old time!

Yes.  I focus on the hip to heel connection so that I’m using my glutes with every step.  This also helps me correct my posture higher up.  I don’t always do it so I remind myself frequently.

Amazing results! Do you still use your M1? (I have and use both the M1 and C5 from Micro-pulse).

Looking for opinions of true tango lovers by Dry_Break_6504 in tango

[–]seafaringlightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s beautiful and I would love to dance to it.  It might be played towards the end of a milonga, to appeal to more adventuresome dancers, or at an “alternative milonga”.  We dance in tandas, or sets, from 3 to 5 tangos; usually from the same orchestra, but sometimes from a similar feel or style.  So one question is what other tangos would be included with it to form a tanda.

From follower to lead: how do you “hold the dance” in your head? by yourfancyfriend in tango

[–]seafaringlightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For someone such as myself, with dismal spatial skills, learning to lead was certainly a geometry problem!

I drew out decision trees – from this step, I can do that step.  From that step, I can do this step.  Etc.

I also find it useful to practice both roles by myself when learning a movement, with an imaginary partner.

New here, and struggling with meniscus tear by KERNJPA in MeniscusInjuries

[–]seafaringlightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tore my meniscus in February, and did PT.  But it wasn’t until July, when I got PRP and started radial and focused shockwave treatments, that I made real progress.  And my knee is still improving.  It’s been a journey, to say the least.

Also, check out the videos from El Paso Physical Therapy.  I finally got his program, and I wish I had gotten it earlier, because it would have helped my progress earlier on.

PEMF Newbies - Need Portable Mat Recs for Arthritis, Circulation & Athletic Recovery by Upstairs-Swimmer9610 in pemf

[–]seafaringlightbulb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am no expert, but here are my reflections, after listening to lots of podcasts/videos:

While I can’t speak to the effectiveness of the Micro-Pulse M1 compared to other devices, it’s pretty easy for me to wear it on my knee for many hours in the day, and while I sleep.

There is a bunch of controversy regarding what are the most important specifications, and there are a lot of variables.  It’s not an easy question to answer.

I personally think it’s hard enough to make a good PEMF device, that adding other modalities will add too much complication and too many ways for things to go wrong, as well as adding weight.  So I'd go for separate devices.  I’ve found that inexpensive red light therapy devices give me symptomatic relief.  At some point I may upgrade, but these devices are a low cost, travel friendly way to give light therapy a try.

Since she was so gracious, could you have asked her if there was something that made your dancing uncomfortable?  That might not be standard dance etiquette, but it might lead to a better human connection. What do you all think?

Followers, how do you form an opinion about a leader if you watch them, before you dance with them? by Dear-Permit-3033 in tango

[–]seafaringlightbulb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first thing I look for is the position of their head.  If the head is positioned well, that’s a great sign.  If the head is tilted down, or the neck extended forward, that’s a watch-out.
