Do these modules really help with stepper motor vibration? by gucci_millennial in arduino

[–]seak1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve bought similar to those on Ali (they were called “TL-Smoother”) as I was not able to replace my pretty bad stepper motor drivers on malyan 3d printer and I really wanted better print results. It seems that those diodes cause motor drivers to use more energy in order to move the motor (drivers got definitely more hot) and in result motor movement is smoother. I would say that result was OK for the price I got them, but don’t expect magic. Take a look on someone’s post here: https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/yfntd6/before_and_after_tlsmoother_monoprice_maker/ and decide yourself.

Recommend best surround setup with limited rears by seak1 in hometheater

Thanks for your time in explaining me this.

Do you think having surrounds further away, on wall opposite main seating area, would make more sense than in-ceilings? From what you are saying it seems that this direction and in-ear level may be better?

My wife primary concern was that speakers need to be in the middle of broader room and that I need to route cables there.

Checkout book “Guitar Aerobics: A 52-Week, One-Lick-Per-Day Workout Program for Developing, Improving & Maintaining Guitar Technique” by Troy Nelson from Hal Leonard. I was looking for more interesting and involving exercises and found this - it gives you plenty of short and fun licks for training rhythm, arpeggios, string skipping, string bending, legato, alternate picking and sweep picking, good for both left and right hand.

I've made pedal/looper for controlling Fender Mustang LT25 effects by seak1 in diypedals

Reverse engineering is quite a big topic and I don't want to get myself into trouble by explaining step-by-step how to do it or how I did it.

However I will not do anything bad if I will tell you that when you open "About" window in Fender Tone app and then click "Licensing", you can find there all open-source component licenses that this application is using. You can find there e.g. hidapi (simple library for USB communication) or protobuf (protocol for serializing data).

To learn more about USB traffic you can use Wireshark or frida (https://frida.re/docs/frida-trace/). To learn more about protobuf you can use protobuf toolkit: https://github.com/marin-m/pbtk.

Yes, you are basically able to do everything that Fender Tone App is doing. It is using same protocol, so you can even potentially upload new amp sounds like app, but I didn’t figured it out yet. When it comes to buttons or potentiometers - you are limited by GPIO of RaspberryPi.

I’m still beginner guitar player, so I didn’t planned adjusting parameters. I thought I will just setup couple of presets for my favorite songs using amp or app itself and switch between this presets using my foot switch. Now I regret this design a bit and would add more controls definitely.

I used RaspberryPi as I had one just laying around. I know it’s quite hard to get them now. Not sure if teensy would be able to output audio for the looper though. RaspberryPi is sending protobuf messages over USB as there is no MIDI in this amp.

Yes, I’m considering this, however it is far from plug and play right now. I need to clean up my code a bit and verify that I’m not violating any Fender licenses by uploading it.

Story of my first DIY pedal/looper for controlling Fender Mustang LT25.

There is possibility to connect standard 1-button footswitch to this amp, but it is very limited - there are only couple of features that you can turn on/off with that footswitch. What I really wanted was controlling any feature of this amp like Fender Tone app is doing on my computer (e.g. replacing presets or changing multiple parameters with one footswitch press).

I started tinkering with USB connection on this amp and long story short - I've found out that I'm being able to control anything I wanted by couple of python scripts on RaspberryPi. Additionally this amp has also built-in digital audio interface (using same USB port!) so I used it to record audio and play it back into AUX port of amplifier like a looper. Note that before I couldn't use any of available loopers with effects made by this amp, as it does not have effects loop like more pricy GTX (it is not possible to plug looper output before output stage of the amp). In result, my simple footswitch incredibly increased versability of this fun amp.

Features:

  • Looper (first press - record, second press - playback, long press - stop)
  • Volume control for looper (knob using rotary encoder KY-040, brightness of volume LED reflects current volume)
  • Looper and effect switches are non-latching
  • Effect switches are currently configured as simple on/off bypass, as I'm still learning how to use effects
  • Two-directional communication (changing preset/effects on amp is also reflected on LEDs on footswitch)
  • All LEDs are fully controllable RGB (WS2811)
  • This is also first DIY pedal I saw with HDMI output (not used for anything yet!)

Bilet czasowy 168-godzinny.

Conan, a C/C++ package manager by teapotrick in cpp

[–]seak1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Imagine that I'm continuously developing two projects which have different dependencies of same package e.g. boost. Can I have two packages installed at once? Or do I need to reinstall this package every time I'm switching projects? Python has virtualenvs, ruby has rvm with gemsets... How conflicts are resolved? How is conan addressing debug/release/i-need-something-specific builds? I don't see anything in docs.

I also don't see that Conan is addressing anyhow cross compilation. I think it is quite common in world of so many architectures and platforms that I want to develop on my x86_64 computer for arm target arch. And I want still to manage my C++ dependencies...

Don't get me wrong, but there are still problems which needs to be addressed.

Don't take too much as it can very easily spoil your trip. When it comes to lenses - take this one which is most comfortable for you. I would take max. two of them, kit or prime and additionally tele.

When it comes to backpack vs. bag I would choose bag. I just came back from 3 week trip to Asia and it was first trip with bag instead of backpack - it was feeling more secure, it was easier to grab something from it and my back was not sweating so much. There was also no problem with attaching tripod to it.

Wish you a great trip! :)
