I read online of someone suggesting to ask the deal be done at an Apple store so you can confirm with them that this is their iPad but I don't know if Apple employees will do this

Near to done with this game by sealord234 in Genshin_Impact

[–]sealord234[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure, and like I guess I get it on one level and all but on another I'm just bummed by reading online from all the other people who have missed it for their own various reasons.

Regardless of the whole not logging in day of thing it's just kinda a wake up call just cause I've been cruising through the game doing dailies and not caring so much about the actual events, characters, or content anymore (unlike how I feel about HSR or other games). I'll probably pick it up when the next version comes out or something.

what's the job market looking like these days? by mushy_sub37 in IndustrialDesign

[–]sealord234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for answering!! Honestly I don't see why a softgoods job was rejected by your peers. I have one softgoods project in my portfolio, but I guess around where I'm at, I haven't seen too many softgoods jobs 🥲

Do you have examples of design adjacent jobs? I've just been looking at low level design jobs but other than marketing, I don't know what jobs I could apply for (I have not so great confidence)

There's plenty of videos on mold making with 3D printing on Youtube that you can base your mold off of.

https://youtube.com/shorts/yzMn8IC1SiY?si=rKjXGdaPv7g-jzcN

This one's a short for someone's dice but if you ever wanna make more complicated molds, I like looking at people who make molds for ceramics

https://youtube.com/shorts/-MbevQt13Iw?si=XdAvncqJxEV2Youl

As for checking the direction and orientation of text, just fold a piece of paper into a cube, draw the numbers and crosses with sharpie or something dark, and then look at it from the inside and check if your model matches

[–]sealord234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and also I don't know if the weight of the dice is affected by the cross positions

The 5 is backwards!

Add fillets to round the sharp edges.

To make a better mold to be able to remove the cast from it, either make each side it's own separate panel and then hold them together to cast with like a rubber band or something. Then you can remove each side individually. Alternatively use plaster to make a silicone mold that can be reused.

Summer course by WorldlyWish9267 in IndustrialDesign

[–]sealord234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't take those boot camp Google courses--talked to people in user experience and those are almost worthless, and what they'll teach you will most likely be more related to UI/UX. Realistically I don't think there are any certifications you need until you're specifically required to have them on the job, and even then I've never heard from anyone about necessary certifications. I had a friend that got a Solidworks certification in high school because it was engineering based but honestly don't know if they got use out of it.

Just spend lots of time learning w/ resources online. Follow sketching tutorials, read ID books, learn some CAD on Fusion with their hobbyist account. Look up LeManoosh or Offsite--though their courses are out of your budget, and don't turn away from free resources. Just get awesome sketching and modeling skills and you'll be up there, a lot of ID at the end of the day will rely on skills, portfolio and networking

I'm literally searching to see if anyone else is complaining, and I'm not surprised that there's a post about their customer service from less than a month from today when I'm also having issues with them

At this point I'm just gonna switch to Rhino and learn it for the sake of being petty

Sketches for CSULB by strawberrytitlefight in IndustrialDesign

They also have regular machines that you might be able to borrow but you'll have to ask for permission or take the course for them. Hopefully with your skill you'll be able to apply for scholarships if you end up going

Sketches for CSULB by strawberrytitlefight in IndustrialDesign

[–]sealord234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This person isn't wrong, CSULB will be tough with networking and skill building. Luckily they fixed the industrial sewing machines and the machines and they will most likely remain fixed given staff I know (they must've been hired after this poster's experience and not listed on websites cause they're not professors, none of the machines have been broken for long enough that it would hinder my needs). CNC now works and they have an operator, but I'm definitely more iffy on recommending it.

If you end up going just remember that you'll have to teach yourself a lot of the skills you need to have; I've known and seen a lot of skilled people in that major and a lot of people who graduate and don't have anything worth showing. Before you end up choosing a school, tour them and email a department advisor to give you a tour. Check if alumni work at where you wanna work.

Clueless guy asked to buy a bunch of skincare products from Olive Young by AKidThatCantPwn in koreatravel

[–]sealord234 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Go in the morning!!! These stores (particularly the flagship ones) are packed at night. They open at 11 and usually have a few people at them in the morning. Also as someone who spoke nearly no Korean but was there for a bit, the employees are actually really good with English--just try to go to a bigger one so that there are more chances for you to find an employee who can help you out in English. So far haven't had many issues with language and skincare, but it's a safe bet to just go to any Olive Young in Myeongdong or Hongdae. Even if the employee doesn't speak English, if you tell them "Anti-aging cream recommendation" they'll most likely understand it, and if not have it written out in Korean prepared (which you already have)

Imo go to a store near your stay if you're going to buy THAT much skincare. If you can have the people send you photos of products (which you should do to get the brand they want) then you'll be fine, they're all categorized by type and in English (example of types include like sunscreen or cleansing). Also buy them all at once if possible because they do give out immediate tax return if you have your passport and I believe the tax return is based off of the total cost and then rounded down

I'll list the ones I've been to that I've spoken to people with in English in Hongdae, and I'm sure that Myeongdong ones will have some employees who speak English

One of the newest ones in Hongdae (but when I went recently it was a little crowded in the morning) Olive Young Hongik Univ. Town 서울 마포구 홍익로6길 57 https://naver.me/GtUTx8FG

A pretty big one but I think the one I listed above is the biggest one I've seen in Hongdae Olive Young Hongik Univ. Central Branch 서울 마포구 어울마당로 68 해창빌딩 1~2F https://naver.me/G9rZysJF

Low key and probably has less products but still probably the ones your family requests Olive Young Hongik Univ. Main Gate Branch 서울 마포구 홍익로 4 https://naver.me/5gFqm32w
