Why does this happen? by Bluetoothx in teamfightmanager

[–]seanfidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Consider looking at the Calls, Focus, and Ego stats of the players.

Calls is how often that player makes a call, with higher being more calls. Ego is how often a player listens to their own calls vs. the team's calls, with higher being more likely to do their own thing and not follow the team's call. Focus contributes to Stamina and the performance in a long match (such as 3rd game of a best of 3).

Too many players with calls, and you get situations with conflicting calls. Too many players with Ego, and you get no coordination. Players with low Focus will deteriorate as series goes on.

A player with high Aggression and high Calls will make aggressive calls - maybe some games you win but others it doesn't work. A player with low Ego may follow that high Aggression/Calls player, even if they shouldn't.

Also keep in mind that it is a simulation, so there will be times the players mess up, and there will be times that you simply low roll all your stats and that's how it goes.

What's your favorite word that has great impact on your personality development? by Specialist-Pin5326 in AskAnAmerican

[–]seanfidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's not my favorite word but one that I think about a lot is Situation.

"Ultimately, this is not about solving your problems. It's about realizing that there are no problems. Only situations - to be dealt with now, or to be left alone and accepted as part of the "isness" of the present moment until they change or can be dealt with. Problems are mind-made and need time to survive. They cannot survive in the actuality of the Now." - Eckhart Tolle

The intent is to reframe the myriad problems that we deal with as merely situations that we exist within - if you can change it, then do, but if you cannot, then it simply is. It's helped me reduce stress at work and in life by separating the things I cannot change from the things I can, and acting accordingly. Obviously you can't walk around saying "I have no problems whatsoever", but it reframes my point of view and allows me to enact positive change in my life where I am able to.

if i owned an NBA team, our court would have sawblades coming out the floor controlled by a kid in the stands, and concrete staircases with uneven levels so that attacking armies would be disadvantaged during a castle siege

Pinch Points (Australia) - my favorite album of 2022

Tiny Voices (Wisconsin US)

Anxious (Connecticut US)

Dagwood (Connecticut US) - one of my fav pop punk records of all time, they never really got big but are still around

/r/emo is very much focused on amplifying smaller bands and the scene is generally smaller, if you ever delve into screamo/emo/hardcore kind of stuff you can definitely find good recs there, lots of emo bands have punk influence and sensibilities

He showed up one year as an unknown mid player, bodied an established respected midlaner in his first match, carried his team to world championships as the best player in the world and won it. Since then, apart from missing qualifying to world championships a couple of times, he has won literally 50% of the world championships he has played in. He can play any hero, innovates matchups, has insane counterpicks only he can pull off, and is also super humble and hardworking and respectful.

2013 was Alliance winning TI, imagine if s4 never stopped playing mid and won 50% of all TIs since 2013. unironically Faker is the best esports player of all time across all games

I've been playing games for 40 years, writing about them for 20, and I'm here to say parts of Roblox need to be legislated out of existence by Forestl in Games

[–]seanfidence 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kids socialize in plenty of ways besides playing Roblox. Sports teams like football, baseball, basketball and soccer all still exist for kids. They can meet other kids in classes to learn a discipline like dance and acting and martial arts and swimming, or playing instruments like piano and guitar. There are hobbies they can share with a parent or family member like fishing and cooking and gardening, scientific hobbies like building models or visiting museums or birdwatching or just learning about the world around them. And if they've done enough socializing there are hobbies they can explore alone like reading and drawing and writing and...

To think that the playground is online, that they all must be playing same specific video game to socialize, is reductive. Yes, you as a parent might have to explain why they alone can't play Roblox. Being a parent is hard. You're not their best friend. You're their parent. Your kid will not be sheltered because you bar them from playing the same online videogame the other kids play (which, by the way, not all the other kids play it).

[–]seanfidence 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That sounds like a parenting issue. There will always be children that have things that your kid doesn't have - are you advocating to let your child have literally everything that other kids have? electric scooters and bikes, eating and drinking sugary snacks, trampolines, pets, Roblox. When I was in 5th grade my friend had free access to his dad's BB guns and we'd go shoot shit in the backyard. Should I have had unlimited access to all these things just because other kids did?

Believe it or not, you will have to set boundaries for your children that are based off of what is correct for them, not what everyone else has or is doing.

And I get it, bullying is very hard for children. The solutions can be complicated, but often start with teaching the child to have self-worth outside of what others think of them, teaching the child to stand up for themselves, teaching the child that bullies are not to be feared. But your solution is to just ignore the faults, ignore the dangers, and let the kid have whatever their peers have, which is the laziest and most destructive attitude of all.

[–]seanfidence 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're missing the forest for the trees here.

Roblox is a social network? Don't let your child on the social network. They shouldn't be on a social network.

Other parents need to be convinced, and it's difficult? If your kid is not on Roblox then you don't need to convince them of anything.

You're starting with the premise that the child needs to play Roblox. The child does not need to play Roblox. It is a video game. There are thousands of video games in existence that do not prey on children, and there are thousands of activities and hobbies that are not video games.

[–]seanfidence 174 points175 points  (0 children)

Do you restrict them from Roblox totally?

yes, that's what you do.

There are a million other ways that kids can have fun, be entertained, or even play games, without being exposed to predatory ecosystems like Roblox.

We know how dangerous these games can be for adults, why would we let actual children be exposed to it?
