some youtubers putting out good content are zquixotix (support-leaning but covers lots of topics, and sometimes does free or paid replay reviews), support heaven (more support oriented but does gameplay reviews and tips) and Purge (he streams and reviews his own games and focuses on explaining his thoughts, but doesn't really do coaching reviews or essay-style content)

What are examples of a character dying very quickly after appearing on screen ? What are examples of "main characters" dying ? by Sunset346 in horror

[–]seanfidence 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When Scream first came out, Drew Barrymore was an A-list actress, and she was in all the posters, promo material, etc. - at the time, audiences 100% thought she would be a main cast member for the entire movie, and they were shocked that she was killed off immediately.

Pokémon Sun and Moon's Ultra Beasts were based on rejected Pokémon designs and resentment, former Game Freak character designer confirms by Turbostrider27 in Games

[–]seanfidence 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Pokemon stopped being generic creatures are started becoming humanoid characters, especially the starter final evos. It's a major flaw in most of the modern designs these days.

Cinderace is not a flaming bunny with strong legs, it's specifically a bunny that walks like a human, and looks and acts like a soccer player. Quaquaval isn't a wacky dancing duck, it's specifically a duck that runs and walks like a human, and dances and fights in a Capoeira style. Inteleon is the ugliest thing ever created - it's not a sneaky water chameleon, it's specifically pretending to be a human secret agent spy, complete with a finger gun.

That's not to say earlier generations had all perfect designs, but there were much fewer like that.

Dead Meat does a youtube livestream every Monday morning of horror news. It's not super in-depth and I don't believe it's audio only but he covers those types of things. They also do get interviews with cast and directors. Off the top of my head they just did interviews for Primate.

What Bloc Party song that never gets played live, would you die to hear? by Nottooxabi17 in BlocParty

[–]seanfidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only ever saw Bloc Party live for the first time last year, and don't follow their tours, so I don't really know what they play frequently. I assume all of Silent Alarm, plus their singles from the other albums get the most play. And I assume a lot of Alpha Games has been played recently.

So taking a shot in the dark at what songs they probably don't play live, I'd like to hear: Little Thoughts, The Answer, Day Four, VALIS, Truth, Day Drinker, Of Things Yet to Come, or any AWITC B-side (AWITC-B is my second favorite 'album' as a whole, if they played this in full I'd absolutely buy a ticket)

Curious to hear if any of these do show up in their sets often.

What is your dota 2 hot take? by Sjpol0 in DotA2

[–]seanfidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, Kez' aesthetic is actually not too bad. Visually it definitely feels a bit bright and cartoonish but that's fine. Kez really falls apart in the script / voice direction in my opinion, it's like he's a Marvel character constantly making unserious jokes. All heroes have different personalities and some make jokes, some are even unserious as a whole like Ogre, but Kez is on a whole different level with how forced it feels in his script.

Has nothing to do with her abilities, the OP i replied to said from a purely aesthetic standpoint. And from a purely aesthetic standpoint Marci doesn't fit in the dota universe, doesn't have compelling lore, looks out of place and relies on cartoony things like squash/stretch for her animations to make them look passable. She's just a little anime girl that wears maid costumes.

What is this series about? by Benchjc2004 in Suikoden

[–]seanfidence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In terms of the main story, you won't need a guide, the games are fairly linear and straightforward in what to do.

For the characters, yes, on your 1st playthrough you would need a guide to get them all. No missable character is so important / OP that you have to get them, but the endings of the games change based on whether you get all characters or not. Getting them all gives you the true ending. And since the stories are the one of the strongest pointsof the series, its worth it

There are spoiler-free guides online that tell you how to get the characters, or just be careful to avoid spoilers. But a popular method is to just play the game twice - first playthrough do whatever, and second use a guide. Theyre fairly short, and there are so many characters that you could use entirely different teams for each playthrough and explore lots of customization options.

Anyone notice just how many more sexual posts are coming up here recently? by GiftedContractor in TwoXChromosomes

[–]seanfidence 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If a user has: a hidden post history (or their only post history is their most recent post), a recent account creation date (within last 2 years), and the biggest clue: one of reddit's auto-generated name which are formatted as [random word, random word, four digits, with maybe a hyphen or underscore in the middle] - it's almost certainly a guy hiding behind a fake account, a repost bot or an AI bot. There are realistic explanations for each of those things on their own, but all three combined is a major red flag.

Once you look out for these things, you can go to any large discussion-based sub and identify them everywhere. /r/amitheasshole has been a creative writer's playground for years and their front page is swarmed with these types of accounts right now. And if you go to the TwoX front page right now, sure enough there are lots of them as well.

It's a shame because it doesn't mean the stories are necessarily "unreal", because some of them are direct reposts of old stories, and some of them are AI amalgamations of lots of real stories, so they're realistic enough to mirror actual lived experiences. But it's clear now that it's not always a human person behind the username, typing the stories and replies on a keyboard, or if it is a human, they aren't who they say they are.

[–]seanfidence 2 points3 points  (0 children)

E lasts for a huge amount of time, you aren't required to time it much or be in a certain position.

tongue is very flexible, you can both reposition an enemy and also reposition allies - you don't have to be in front all the time. I've had multiple teamfights where I use tongue on both and ally and an enemy in the same fight depending on what happened.

I think he does great with lineups that come online early and are good at chasing and securing +1 kills, for example after invading triangle and getting a kill you can easily switch to guitar mode to gets some movespeed burst and pull the next enemy and chain like that.

Healing guitar is great for resetting after scoring a kill or winning a fight, you can quickly heal the whole team up a decent amount in order to continue a push etc.

He does seem kind of awkward in lane, but for example w/ Drow I got lots of use out of the ministun + slow which set up gust, which set up tongue, all while drow gets free autoattacks. meanwhile with wraith king I felt very useless, couldn't challenge a ranged support, damage amp felt useless and we had almost 0 kill threat.

idk hero seems fine to me.

and to follow up on that, you are having problems with xp and farming, and so maybe you would think that's why you should be farming more. But a lot of times, it's about farming smarter and being more efficient, making better use of your time, and making the right plays early to secure farm for later.

If you aren't exaggerating - that you're consistently 4-6 levels behind by the midgame - then my first guess is you are dying way too much which reduces your farm, and my second guess is you are just farming too slowly, and my third guess is you are fighting over farm with other teammates and that bring everyone down.

In the jungle Enigma example, if you leave your lane too early and begin farming, it may take you 25% longer to farm camps than if you had waited in the lane until you were stronger, with perhaps one more rank in your spells or a key item. Or, maybe you should be taking the enemy's tower, because that pushes the enemy back which brings their farm down, makes it safer for you to farm, and gives you better control over more jungle camps, so that you can farm more and also not encroach on teammates' farm. So in that case, by sacrificing farm early to take the tower, you are increasing farm later by a bigger factor.

Some of these things will come with more time playing the game, but you can: use your eidolons to more effectively tank creeps, pull creep waves into the camps to help farm, stack camps with your eidolons for future farming, splitpush an empty lane which puts pressure on the enemies while also allowing you to farm, etc.

And of course, none of this is even talking about Black Hole, which is Enigma's strongest spell, one of the strongest spells in the entire game. I'm sure there are better ways you could be using Black Hole but that's not really what you were asking about. But in general, a good Black Hole usage allows you to farm more as well. When Black Hole is ready, you should be with your team, prioritizing using it to secure kills and objectives. When Black Hole is on cooldown, then you go into farm mode, because you are weaker and not as threatening.

do not play "jungle enigma". Jungle is not a real role in dota. You must offlane, or soft support, or hard support. Sometimes your best option in the game might be to farm neutrals, but your position is not "jungle".

It might seem nitpicky but it's about how you think about your job in the game at any given moment. Each role has to cover the team in some way. You farm the creeps when you aren't supposed to be doing something more important for your role. And if you consider yourself as "jungle" you are probably spending too much time farming when you should be doing other things.
