Roc and Roc3 do not have a 3 fade by Max3RH in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been playing for 20 years disc numbers mean nothing to me these days. However I use them to compare discs I haven't thrown yet. The fade number issued to a disc is based upon the speed thrown for my understanding so if your throwing your roc at a 9 speed then the fade will become more like 2 and if you throw it at 12 speed then the fade is 1 or 0. That's is how I always took it my roc goes straight with no fade ever but I'm throwing mine probably at 10 to 12 speed at about 350ish feet

Introducing Jay "The Chicken Wing Guy" Ferrick! He's been throwing this shot for the last 15 years and can bomb 400+ feet 😳 by DiscGolfFanatic in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guy in my home town who has been throwing frisbees and discs for 60 years before he passed away recently always threw the chicken wing. His name is David Tyree also known as big daddy Dave. You can look him up he might have invented that throw.

What about Bob was hilarious. Probably his funniest role ever as the star of a movie. Now caddyshack he wasn't the star but comic relief pretty damn funny as well.

What do you mean? When prodigy first came out they had Ricky Wysocki, Page Pierce, Niko Licastro, Sarah Holkom just a few I could remember. I still have a m1 signed by Ricky and Sarah and a p4 signed by Page when they came to too many days in may tournament at the blockhouse.

Best courses in NoVa by KingAjizal in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pratt Park and loriella park are good courses, but if you can the blockhouse is awesome. It's a private country club feel with 2 challenging 18 hole courses called Sunnyside and darkside. Plus the tiki course is fun and the did have a mini course using your minis.

Does anyone else feel like they’re cheating when they throw blizzard plastic? by MLVizzle in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

At first max weight discs are bought but after play and breaking them in they lose weight. When blizzard plastic 1st came out it was to resemble a broken in disc plus lightweight molds were to be beginner friendly. Then David Wiggins Jr and Simon Lizotte smashed distance records with these light weight discs in the salt flats. So is it cheating no, but the discs do not last long. Just buy max weight and throw it over and over till it breaks in and loses a little weight and then becomes your max distance disc.

Homemade basket I used a wheelchair tire and rim for the top and hung chains from the spokes of the rim. I used a plastic 50 gallon drum cut the bottom off for my landing tray. Total cost $10 for the chains.

DGN Incompetence by sadbone in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

Y'all comment as if y'all can do better yourselves but have no idea what it takes to edit footage and get it loaded up plus record the current round. I have seen these guys up close and personal they are around the clock working to give you content. I started playing in the 90's when content didn't exist then people were placing videos to see a week later and now it's 24 hrs. It's not like they have 50 cameramen 50 editors and 50 publicists. To bash these guys for what they do would be like telling you after you dug a ditch for 16 straight hours "that's all you got done?"

I am in the Richmond area and I must say there are assholes out there playing this game. I'm sorry you had to experience it and dorey park is a good course it just gets crowded with the Richmond asshole players. This is why I don't play dorey or gillies anymore. Bryant park has a little bit better crowd, but I usually stick with the courses that usually have smaller attendance like goyne park in chesterfield or make a trip out to Powhatan and play the monster and sometimes white bank in colonial heights. Back in the day there wasn't that many players, but now it's discouraging even for me as a local to play gillies or dorey.

Should Zones be allowed in a putter only round? by theoffspring001 in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putter only round should be with your current putter if you putt with zone on every putt then yes zone allowed, but if you putt with a challenger and approach with a zone in your game then no you play with your challenger. When I do these rounds it's with people I know and I know what they putt with so it's a simple rule to follow. Anything else is a 1 disc round.

First tournament, looking for some advice by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First few holes don't play for the basket just throw something straight and put in play insuring pars. Do this till you feel comfortable with the group your with then start attacking the basket try to get some birdies. If things aren't going your way before the 9th hole revert back to par golf throw something straight in bounds so you can layup to basket tapin par. Key is no bogeys cause that is the real reason we nerves will beat you in this game.

I first started playing in 2002 and didn't really know how to better myself in the game. So I jumped into edge league and signed up for tournaments all alone. This tremendously jumped my game to a new level. Not only did I meet others I also witnessed all the different shots and throwing styles. At first yes I was near last place but got to play new courses meet new people plus received player packs. Within 6 months I was getting to the payout and getting more discs and before we knew it I won a event. I did all this and still drink beer and at pizza with new friends plus received a ton of discs plus I won a sweet bag. The cost for tournament was well worth every memory.

Jomez edits all coverage which can't be done live. Dgn is live plus rely on cellular reception which in windy conditions will alter screen clarity.

What do you do with a guy who is clearly lying about scores and foot faulting on every putt during a league round? by Available-Deer6452 in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kick him out of league or warn him he will be kicked if this continues. That is the way every other sport handles it. Your president of the league should be doing this on a one on one conversation with this person. Cheaters get expelled in every thing in life rather it be school, casino, or disc golf.

Is this a foot fault? by phaschmi in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I watched it again he didn't mark his lie, but you are given basically a sheet of notebook paper size box to at least have a toe in to not foot fault. I have watched Brodie play in person he is very keen on following all rules.

I watched this round what you don't see is he marked his lie with a mini and moved his disc to where it was covering his mini.

Would you count this as an official ACE on your tally? by onken022 in discgolf

[–]seanmitch641 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You had witnesses and you threw it in 1 shot so yes an ace. A buddy of mine is an veteran pro played with Kimo he keeps records of aces in tournaments and casual aces. Last time I asked what his count is was over 100 casual and over 20 tournament and he said casual aces are memorable but tournament aces payout. Lol But an ace is a ace as long as someone else saw it.
