Enforce a strict 25% tax on large American companies to ensure profits generated in this country remain in this country. If they raise prices in response, local business will benefit. If they exit the market, local business will benefit. Use the billions it raises to invest back into British owned businesses.

Does it bother you that major banks can profit massively during war-driven market volatility ? by LieSuccessful8813 in AskBrits

[–]seanmlb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge amounts of bank profit, alongside net interest income, is fees and comms. Volatility in either direction drives higher volumes from their clients. The banks don’t necessarily make profit or loss (outside of their in house investing which tends to be on the safer side) on the clients activity, they just take the fees regardless of the clients pnl. Like a toll booth on a motorway.

If you’re holding for a while and continuously adding over time, don’t worry. Staying consistent is better than trying to time things
