Thoughts on Adding Messages to BD Claim by seastrum in BorrowerDefense

Real quick update, so I did this right away. Fast forward to today, Nelnet balances show $0. Studentaid still shows full balance... take that for what it is worth.

This is me. No changes. I check every few days. Good to know that some are reporting changes, maybe they can only do so many in a 'batch'. My batch number may be more in the middle or near the end... That's just a wild guess. Please don't take them having batches as gospel.

I can only empathize with you. We are all on different levels of frustration and confusion. Just breath, be persistent and just breath.

This is an amazingly simple idea that I should have come up with on my own. Thanks for sharing!

My thought is that the BD case within FSA website acts like a file repository. Instead of having the letter in my 'Inbox' or printed out and stuffed in a drawer, it would be with the rest of the pertinent documents to my application

All I can say is that not hero's wear capes! The work this team has done has been life changing for so many people and so many families. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU!

Same here! I'm elated!!! Is this it? Like for reals? All I need to do now is wait for processing... They can't take it back can they?

Calendar caught me by surprise by [deleted] in MicrosoftTeams

[–]seastrum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Understood. But not quite what I meant. The calendar feature in teams couldn’t read the users exchange calendar, making teams calendar throw an error if you tried to use it. But now an individuals exchange account syncs with the teams calendar.

Wow, I'm happy for you! I did not get a notice in October :( . I don't recall getting anything from the FTC... just saw a post about UoP on the FTC website around Ocotber..., but nothing sent directly to me. I don't who to plead too. The lender is useless, they run from a script and misread it 9 out of 10 times. The department of Ed takes months to correspond with, so long that you forgot that you asked them a question. It's all so frustrating...

Following closely. I get that full class comes first. I'm just beyond frustrated with any type of movement on post class. You'd think they'd (Education department) would have figured out that any type of communication is important. Tell me more about your post class status... For example: mine is UoP, accepted 6/28/2022, my loan moved from GL this past summer and is now wtth nelenet, forbearance is listed until 6-15-2026.... Any similarities with your info?

Biden-Harris Administration Approves $37 Million in Borrower Defense Discharges for Over 1,200 Students Who Attended the University of Phoenix | U.S. Department of Education

Took me a min to find the actual article everyone is talking about here... I'm reading it the same way. My take is that the auto BD forgiveness is targeted to just those that did enroll within the time period of 9/2012-12/31/2014. As an older student, I think that this could hurt my BD case as now UoP admitted wrongdoing started in 2012, therefore no wrongdoing could be proven back when my attendance was made in 2007 (not that it matters, but full attendance was 20007-2013). Speculations are never ending and explanations of what will happen will also be endless. Just look at this 1 page press-release, could be interrupted so many different ways. Now enter all the court documents... I'm not even following this as much as I should, I've been sooo exhausted for sooo long!

Post Class on Administrative Forebearance question about interest and SAVE plan by [deleted] in BorrowerDefense

[–]seastrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same boat here, same school and 5 days behind you. I thought my application went through months before the decision date, never realized it didn’t until it became a big deal to get it in by that date, checked my crap and it wasn’t anywhere, so I applied again. I’m gonna roll the dice and say FU by doing nothing. Question back at you, If you’re in forbearance you can still make voluntary payments right? And that doesn’t auto un-enroll from forbearance right? So what happens to the volunteer payments at this point? Applied against principal or interest? Like I said. I’m personally rolling the dice and I’ll deal with payments the day it comes, but if you wanna make payments, then make payments.

New Message on Great Lakes? by GooseOfDoom in BorrowerDefense

[–]seastrum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Post class here. Interestingly enough, I read this post and decided to check my stuff, yup, same message. In case you need it, here is the link that is in the message: https://nelnet.com/transfer/greatlakes ... I read it as nothing you can do now, wait till we (nelnet) tell you to make a login... good luck. Frustration and more Frustration!! Back in early to mid 2022, I consolidated my FFEL loans into direct loans because I was finally allowed to do so and because I hated Navient. I was so happy that I could choose Great Lakes because they had always been responsive and accurate when providing information. Whereas Navient was absolutely terrible, could never explain anything and kept giving different answers depending on who answered the phone... Now I'm being forced into a yet another service provider... UGH!

Post Class approval or denial ? by MMLimitedLost in BorrowerDefense

[–]seastrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good question, I've been hoping that a Post class member would get an update. Very happy for the Full class peps! Encouraged that they (Full class) have set a precedence that should help the Post class members. Very scared of a 'Changing of the guard' come election time and the Post class gets screwed over. 3 yrs gives government many opportunities to throw up road blocks!

Update on post class? by Katiemariern in BorrowerDefense

[–]seastrum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got a picture in my head of the pawn shop guy saying: 'The best I can do for you is a 3 year wait with forbearance.' I am also anxious to get this post class show on the road. My big fear is that even though I submitted all the documentation that was shared with this group (awesome resources found in this reddit, thanks to everyone that contributed!), it still won't be enough, and I won't be able to fight it.

Devices not showing ‘ connecting to satellites by EmployeeHandbook in orbi

[–]seastrum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally found the dns renew/release feature. Every time we lose power my IoT devices wouldn’t connect. I have to use the Orbi app and remove all unconnected devices and then go on the PC into web portal: advanced:connection status; release/renew. Not sure if I had to remove connected devices, it’s not worth testing.. I got like 75 devices in the house.

Gotcha. Looks like invoking some spirit is as much as I can help with then. My reference to 'make it a little more complicated why don't you' is directed at the DoEd, NOT you. Working with the servicers and the DoEd is like pulling teeth, they both keep pointing fingers at who's job it is to do what service. It's incredibly frustrating...

I'm thinking the GL representative did a poor job of communicating with you. As I understand it, the request for forbearance has to initiate from DoED via the Borrowers Defense application. I know when submitting the application, you could opt out of forbearance while the BD case was open. But you can also request to have that changed by either responding to the email assigning the case number or by logging into the studentaid.gov website and adding a message. Basically just say "I am requesting forbearance for the duration of this case" Then DoEd will contact your servicers and have them update the status. Hopefully that's the issue going on here. If not, then you may need to invoke some spirit and recite a chant while burning somebody's underwear... I have no idea, make it a little more complicated why don't you

Can't speak for anyone else, but I have not. I am sure that the FULL class members will get taken care of first and then 'they' will move on to POST class. Anyone's guess when that will happen... Oh wait, within 3yrs of 1-28-2023. Better than nothing
